I guess the servers and mining rig don't help. They charge a shit load for all the fixed fees so reducing my usage will hardly change the bill anyway. There's no real incentive to conserve, and it all comes from hydro dams anyway so don't really feel bad in terms of environmental impact either.

Ideally I do want to look into solar power anyway though, but I need a bigger property if I want enough panels to go off grid. If I cancelled the service I would save a lot.

Dams are awful for the environment. They disrupt the migration patterns of fish, eliminate whitewater, and bring ugly tourist spots. The existing dams aren't going anywhere, but reducing power usage will keep more from springing up.

Yeah they do have some impact but not as much as anything burning fossil fuels.

Sometimes it's the little things in life that make you happy. I've had my printer in the same spot on my desk since I bought my house. This is the same desk I had when I lived at my parent's so when I moved in my house, by default I just setup everything the same way.

Only recently did I realize it's a waste of space to even have the printer in the same room given how little I print. So I finally got around to setting it up for networking in Linux (which was surprisingly not that hard) and I moved it to the basement. Cleared a whole section on my desk which will be nice when I want to do arduino stuff since I can keep it plugged into the PC instead of moving it from my work bench every time I want to reprogram it.

So now you have to go down to the basement every time you print something?

Bad news: The weird noise the treadmill is making is definitely the motor.
Good news: The motor is the only component other than the metal frame with a lifetime warranty.

I had to return a car battery to Costco and get a new one. Whole process in and out was less than 5 minutes and I dealt with nothing but nice people who were eager to help. It's a shock to deal with businesses that operate that way.

Well... I swapped the replacement motor in. It still made the noise.

Frustrated, I sat there fuming for a minute, with the treadmill running, cover off.

I saw a wire that looked wrong. When I say "wrong" - it was always there, but it wasn't properly "cable managed." IT guys know what I mean. It was the control wires from the console, and they're sleeved together in one big hunk of rubber hose. The sleeve was touching the ac/dc converter board. But it's insulated, so obviously not a concern except cosmetic... right?

So, absentmindedly, I pushed it over to one side, trying to solve a little problem before dealing with the big one.

The noise stopped.

I'm happy, but also absolutely fucking infuriated.

Ordered a new pair of Draggin jeans direct from their website:
http://www.dragginjeans.com/

Placed the order at 6:12 AM PST...order shipped out at 9:32 AM PST.

The awesome part is..they threw in a free set of knee armor pads(normally $26.95 by themselves.)

No idea what I'll be using the armor pads for,as I'm not a motorcycle owner.

(Just was looking for a tough, comfortable pair of jeans.)

2 days ago, the short story, kid needed an 02 sensor on the Honda. Simple, 3 bolts on the heat shield, 1 socket for the sensor. Hell no, SOB wouldn't budge even with a cheater bar. Nothing to lose so I sprayed it down with wd-40 and again yesterday morning. It was still drivable so I sent him off to school.

He comes in ~7 last night and I'm fully expecting it to still be a PITA and am prepared to try a propane torch. Spray it with wd-40 just because...lots of smoke because it's still hot...put the socket on it and it's just about turnable by hand. I don't know and I don't care. Expansion/contraction/foul language...

So my last week good thing....bought a led drop light from Amazon, $25 or so. A few of the reviews said it flashed like a strobe. Yep, I got one of those. Took it apart with all intentions of trashing it. The solder joints were crap....like a 6 y.o. did it and that's probably true. The problem one was the transformer. Soldered it and works like a charm. It kinda looks ghetto because I didn't dig in the trash for the clips/grips/springs but it works.

I finally figured out why my brain stays constantly fried. HYPOGLYCEMIA!!
No wonder it took a glucose-laden drink to make my brain function.
No wonder I'd start a boosting phase - adrenals kick in to raise blood sugar. Body's hardwired to correct for low blood sugar.

Too bad I didn't discover this years ago. So much down time due to a shortcircuited brain.
