Just remember...4x4 can help you go...but does NOTHING to help you stop.

annd do NOT EVER drive on dry paved roads in 4 wheel drive. Wet and rainy...OK. Snowy, sure, off-road, or on gravel, OK....Dry paved roads...NEVER For more than a few feet.

4H should be OK, right? When I had my Tacoma (high school) I would be too lazy to manually switch the locking hubs, so I'd keep it in 4H on winter days when the roads were dry. 4L is a different story...

I sometimes miss that truck. A neighbor of mine had a long and really steep driveway, and in 4L the truck made it up with absolutely no problem while it had ~5" of snow, with all-season tires.

Yeah I keep in in 2x4 all the time, definitely don't want to do 4x4 on any gripy surface. Only really going to put it in 4 when it's snowy or I get stuck in mud or something, and only when stopped. Have to switch to neutral to put it in 4 low but don't imagine I'll use that very often.

Not sure if it makes a difference or not but I imagine it does not hurt to switch it to 4x4 once in a while and back to 2 just to exercise it.

You should switch in into 4x4 occasionally, but do so on gravel or dirt. You should also switch it into 4 low occasionally as well, again on gravel or dirt. With 4 low, it usually helps to shift into R before moving back to D after switching in neutral to make sure it locks in. Same with moving back to 4 high.

I seldom use 4low, but when you need it, nothing beats it. I use it for speed control more than anything. You can go down a muddy hill, and just creep on down without the wheels getting away from you. Also useful for pushing/pulling. Slow and easy, with lots of power.

I prepay my gas & electric bill. I put $500 towards it, and that lasts 6 months or so. I made a payment last month, so it makes this month look free. Simple pleasures... Not the absolutely best way to spend money, but not that bad either. I get the convenience of automatic bill pay, and don't have to give anyone access to my accounts which is only asking for problems at some point.

I wish $500 would last me that long for gas and electric lol. That is user 2 months for me. Gas is not too bad, around $140/mo or so, while electric is around $160ish. It went up to $280 this summer though because of A/C and mining. Now it's down to $160ish. I'm on equal billing but they had to adjust it.

Got some pull cord for my chainsaws. Trying to parse all the sizes available online was getting tedious, so I guessed. I could have have gone out to look, but when you get to small sizes like that, I'm not sure my eyeball's that good, and I don't have calipers. Tried the smallest size on my smallest saw, and it's perfect! A little bigger than stock which is good, but not too big to fit or operate smoothly. If it was .5mm bigger, I don't think it would have fit. I changed it now so I wouldn't be left stranded if my cord broke, and the new cord didn't fit. I saved the old as backup in the saw case.

Still need to check my biggest saw. If the larger size fits that, I think I'll be good for all of them. It's pretty nice cord. Stens TrueBlue. Made in Germany. One irritation is they use imperial measurement for sizing. WTF is that?! I'm looking at fractions in the descriptions, and converting it to metric so it makes sense. I'd expect that kind of fuckery from an American company, but I'm surprised the German maker didn't size it properly.

Finished working today at 3pm, and stopped in Sprouts to get sushi for lunch. Found a $10 bill on the floor, so my sushi, and vegan breakfast sausages I got for work cost me $1.50. Also got 25¢ at aldi yesterday. Went to get my cart, and it already had a quarter in it. I was the big winner this weekend :^D

Years ago I posted a picture I took on FB and made a meme caption.

The other day I saw the exact picture pop up in one of those "auto generated" posts as a meme with the same caption I had originally used but in French. I think it's cool that a pic I took made it further than my single post. I'm pretty sure that's worth some kind of fake internet points to have a picture of mine get used in a meme like that.

Haha that crossed my mind, but I find that's an asshole move, it's just a random picture. If I really wanted to I could probably try to get royalties or something but I find that's just being stingy. Lot of money in that though... It's basically pure profit it's not like a digital picture costs any significant money to take and costs absolutely nothing to copy.

As much as I hate digital IP based business, it's basically free money with little to no work if you get into it. Initial work to make the IP content (picture, song, or whatever), then you can continue to profit off it forever.

Had a 2 hour power outage after several years, used battery powered (Ryobi One+) lantern, fan, phone charger etc from camping supplies, kids' room has white noise and I was able to power that as well (it was past their bed time), had a pretty good time!

I bought a new (used) car last week and got it last night. After 12 years of owning the same car I have to say this one is much nicer. It took about six months of searching but I finally found a Honda HR-V (EX; didn't really care but now I'm glad I found the higher trim model) with a manual transmission. I had to buy used since they stopped putting manuals into these for 2019 due to lack of demand.

I found out I can play my NES Classic through the HDMI/USB ports...

I initiated into the local Eagles aerie tonight. Whether that's good or not...time will yell.
Still...inexpensive place to eat and drink...so that's not terrible.

LOL, that Nintendo in the car is brill. I'm thinking about getting a new one in the next couple years or so. My 2011 Civic has a touch over 160k but so far she's been problem free. I keep up on maintenance stuff but occasionally I'll smell... non-normal... smells from it, like an oil smell and sometimes an "electrical burning" type smell, just for a couple tens of seconds or so. No clue where even to start with that but I can't find any negative impact of either one, so far (they've been occurring every once in a while for a couple years at least), nor do they happen consistently or even often (if I tell a car guy to take it for a drive to experience it, there's about a 5% chance he will).

Wait, this is supposed to be a "good thing" thread. Hmmm. I'm hoping to not die in my Tarkov raid tonight?
