I've decided to go ahead and buy the remaining components for my new computer now that my old motherboard stopped working and my x800pro fan has a loud buzz on startup.

I currently own and will use the following parts in my new build.

- Seagate Barracuda 320GB 7200.10
- Antec 900 + Ultra V Series 500W PSU
- LiteOn DVD/RW
- Dell 2005FPW

I plan to buy the following parts to complete my new build.

- Intel E6400 - $222 ($160 OEM @microcenter.com but OOS) [fixed]
- Thermaltake Big Typhoon - $47
- GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 - $123
- EVGA 8800GTS 320MB Superclocked - $300 (free Dark Messiah game included)
- Kingston 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 667 - $170

I'd like to overclock the cpu to around 3.2GHz so I'm not sure if the 667 ram will work. If anyone has recommendations for better ram or a cheaper HS/F, let me know.

I was hoping to get in on that Super Talent ram deal for $115, but its OOS now. I plan to play games like Supreme Commander and hopefully UT3 (UT2007) at 1680x1050.

I plan to buy these parts tomorrow so don't hesitate to add your $0.02.

Thanks

Your build looks pretty good overall. As far as the RAM, DDR2-667 is 667/2=333FSB. So take that 333x8(multi on the CPU)=2664. If you get DDR2-800 you're going 8x400=3.2ghz. So if you want to reach the o/c you had in mind, look into some DDR2-800 memory. Brand and timings are up to you and whatever fits in your budget. There are some nice prices now though with rebates which are right around the price of your 667 memory.

I wouldn't touch the video card and I'd only save the money going with an S3 mobo if I really couldn't afford the DS3.

EDIT: Just FYI, I don't know which MB revision Newegg is shipping now, but ClubIt appears to have 3.3

While most Ultra PSUs are fine, the V-Series is only good for midrange/low end systems. While it could probably run all that hardware, you may want to think about a better PSU for the 8800GTS and your OC. That PSU guide Twofootputt linked to was last updated on 06-04-2005. Check out jonnyguru.com for more up-to-date recommendations. Post the question there, as well, if your current PSU is up to the task. FYI, the OEM E6400 is only $160 at Microcenter (though I noticed you linked to the retail version at the egg, but said "OEM"). Here's some ram that will help you reach 3.2Ghz much easier than any 667 ram:
$170 - G.Skill 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2-800 F2-6400CL5D-2GBNQ

I found some DDR2 800 ram so I can OC to 3.2GHz and wonder if anyone knows if this is compatible with the 965P-DS3 rev3.3 out of the box.

- OCZ Platinum Revision 2 2GB DDR2 800 - $155 AR (clubit.com)

I'd like a second opinion on my current PSU. I found a few potential replacement PSUs that I'd like anyone's opinion on.

- SeaSonic S12-430 - $90
- SeaSonic M12 SS-500HM - $125
- ENERMAX Liberty ELT500AWT - $105 AR

Does anyone know of a better value HS/F that would suit my needs?

Finally, does anyone have a better recommendation for a video card? I might be willing to get a mid-range and wait out for R600.

Thanks again.
