Something that stops the propagation of electron waves in metallic conductors, but doesn't affect any other form of electron interaction such as nerve action or indeed all chemistry, including the basic cohesiveness of matter? Shit, I prefer the warped physics of Flash Forward. At least I can fanwank that with existing fringe science -- all I need is the Penrose-Hameroff conjecture (which even the show hinted at) and Bearden's unified field theory.
judging by the first episode, im sure whatever the explanation is its not logical
if the pilots are well trained, yeah. but the engines would probably shut down due to severe computer error, and that would mean the pilots have to actually fly the plane which is something we are noticing that many new pilots cant. they are trained in simulators and fly with assisted control, they are hardly pilots anymore.
That quarry looking place (really blue water in a big hole) looked like it was right out of a Walking Dead episode too.

Please tell me you are joking. So much fail in what you wrote above. Most pilots have hundreds to thousands of hours hand flying airplanes before they even think of sitting in the right seat of an airliner. They most definitely know how to "actually fly the plane". What do you think they spend all that time doing in those simulators anyway? Its sure as heck is not flying along in cruise with the autopilot on.

im not either. its the same cookie cutter show they always try to make. go cheap on the writing and actors, because they dont matter (apparently) and spend the money on the director and the post processing team. and the director isnt hired to do a good job, his name is just being used to get people to think the show matters.
when will they ever learn? how many successful movies does it take before they realize the writing is usually the most important part, followed by the people who turn those words into actions? if you dont have writers and actors, then you have garbage.
NBC heads should be fired for putting something this bad on network TV....they obviously have no idea of what "passable" is.

i don't get some of the comments. it's obvious some of the people commenting didn't actually watch it. It;s only 1 episode so far too and they really don't show much of civilization, so there's not much to go on yet.

According to the bad black guy, it's a hanging offense to own one, which would indicate it's against their laws for civilians to own one. I have no idea why no one has more modern guns except the bad black guy. It's been 15 years and maybe they used up all the ammo for the modern guns and can't make more for some reason?
Acting isn't any better or worse than any other tv show I've watched.
Not sure why the fight scene was ridiculous either? Again, not any different from any other typical fight scene in a show or movie.
Again we've only seen very little of the world, maybe there is steam power being used.
