Where are you going to get the fuel?

The militia plans on using helicopters when they get electricity working. Where is he going to get jet fuel?

My guess is old storage, biodiesel, oil shale, and oil wells. They seem to have enough people to set up a small scale refinery if needed.

Maybe whaling will make a comeback.

If I were writing the show for the writers, I'd say that diesel and gasoline are very useful for common vehicles, engines, generators, and over the years, the supply got depleted. Jet fuel is best or only used for aircraft, and since nothing started, there'd be more lying around.

On the other hand, nothing electronic works, so there should be lots of gas and diesel left unless people used it for burning.

Wow this is really bad. It's like a stupid version of little house on the prairie.

sigh...at least mob doctor was ok.

I have not watched it at all. So how many billions die the first year from just starvation? After fifteen years I guess there would be less then a half billion human survivors.

I am trying to figure out how they were running out of air even if it was air tight although it wasn't.

A few miles of tunnels would have enough air to last a long time for 8ish people.

I also questioned that...

If TV has taught me anything, a bank vault should provide enough air to last at least a few hours. An entire tunnel network, despite having multiple torches burning, should be more than adequate?

Unimaginative writing is killing this show. Has there NOT been an episode that consisted of somebody being captured and the team rescuing them? Rescue after rescue it is really lazy. Also the gang of kids felt really cliched to me like I had already seen that in a thousand places before. Main complaint though is the endless rescue him or her of it all. Even against the larger backdrop of the chick rescuing her brother the writers have to pepper each episode with more of it.

I didn't notice the constant rescuing every episode, aside from the main plot line of rescuing the brother... But come to think of it, it's true.

If this show has episodes after the "fall finale", it should be a bit more open now that Juliette and the brother have been rescued.

I'm liking the show enough to continue watching it. It's no Once Upon a Time though.

People are growing their own food. In the first show it showed the family in a normal neighborhood and the front yards were all gardens now. I seriously doubt 11/12ths of the Earth's population would die from starvation, that's a pretty huge leap. In the cities it would obviously have been a huge problem but in the suburbs/rural areas it would be as simple as getting some seeds.

The problem is this is over a decade since the power went out so those left will know how to survive.

Before then how many would know how or have the land to make enough food to live on.

Not to mention the location being a issue as the territory they show has long enough winters to remove half the growing year.

If this show was more adult orientated it would be badass. I watched all the episodes over 2-3 days, and while it wasnt great, its watchable. Even though the young actress is pretty, every time they do that closeup where she just stares longingly and convinces the uncle to do something stupid makes me cringe. And it happens like 2-3 times an episode. Enough already.

The relationship between Miles and Monroe, Neville and Nate and Julia (wife/mother) is kinda interesting and well done. Even the backstory for the fat Google guy, English chick and Nora was good, but the main family story line is something that drags everything down. I like the concept for the show, and a lot fo the elements, but as a whole its just...off.

The only reason I keep watching this show is for the hope that Charlie & Nora will have a lesbian moment. It has yet to happen.

just got to this show on line (work/family too little time for sci-fi these days)

So agree with loads of comments here!

Why do diesel engines not work, i have used hand cranked engines. So why is there no steam network? My father and grandfathers generation used steam. Einstein was born in the age of steam!

Ok lets assume only human made "artificially generated" electricity does not work, so animal electricity has a genetic feedback and works, brains motor skills nerve impulses. Rain is pretty f*****, as electrostatic charge wouldn't function. So no attracting dust to water and so no creation of rain drops.

Plans born of the cold war when it was thought eighty+ percent of electrical civilian sources and say half military ones would be blown out by EMP would still be available and so would people who were trained to implement those plans.

These art school only producers should stop thinking sci-fi is easy.

Hope you lost millions on this series as it is an insult to the average sci-fi watcher past the onset of puberty.

Why are no people with a science background allowed to get into writing any more!

In case anyone missed it but the show was back today.

I can honestly say I am glad the son was killed off.

Spoiler tags are available for a reason.

When you posted this, I thought you were talking about the Major's son, so I was shocked when it was the other one!

Wtf is the point of spoiler tags after the episode is over?

Last I checked but most agreed that is fine and it's people who check these threads after the show is over that need to learn to watch the show first.

Not to mention they make threads very hard to impossible to read on some devices and generally just annoying.

It's one thing if we were talking about the show before it aired like in game of thrones as we have books but this is 100% different.

Nah the majors son needs to help them out / help the resistance plus he at least was worth keeping around unlike her whiny brother otherwise they would have to stop every few minutes because of his asthma.
