They are getting ridiculous with these. First it was grocery stores, but now it's fucking convenience stores, dollar stores, and every damn thing else. I'm really getting tired of being asked whether I want one because I probably don't shop there enough to take advantage of their shitty 'rewards' unless you consider not being asked to sign up for a card a reward in of itself but then you have to go through wallet and sort through 20 other stupid as cards to find the one you're looking for so can collect 10 bonus points that you'll never use mainly because you have no idea what they're good for and tha6t's because you didn't bother to find out because you know they're practically worthless to begin with. And then there are those assholes who will hold up a whole line of people to sign up for one of these cards. And don't they know that most wallets have a limited capacity to carry cards? Imagine having a different card for every single place you might shop? That's ridiculous. I just wanna get my shit and get the fuck out. You know efficiency. What the hell is wrong with that?

I have a leather portfolio that is normally for putting people's business cards in... I use it to keep all the cards I have. Currently it has ~42 in it. That doesn't include the ones in my wallet as well. That includes credit/debit cards I have sock drawered though.

It is getting ridiculous, I have to admit.

Enter phone number at register; you don't have to carry every card with you.

Use a fake number if you fear the black choppers.

?

Profit?

I hate this crap too, because it probably means they charge a bit more for stuff to make it seem like you get rewards but if you don't have the card then you pay more. Get rid of all this stuff and just lower the prices accordingly. I don't feel like having to carry 20+ cards on me. I just carry my credit and/or debit card and that's it.

It's been looked at. On the whole, stores that have loyalty cards are no cheaper than stores that don't. They do provide spying and data mining, so I guess you do get more with a card. Well... Somebody gets more anyway...

It's amusing though to see their tactics.

- Week 1: Register spits out a coupon. "Buy 3 get $1 off."
- Week 2: Still didn't buy any of the item. "Buy 2 get $1 off."
- Week 3: "$1 off purchase of 1."
- Week 4: Still didn't buy any of the item. Middle finger is printed on coupon.

Fishing for my purchasing threshold.

They could always transition to something like the online experience, where a few large companies keep tabs on you regardless of where you're going, which doesn't just include shopping.

"One convenient rewards card, for anywhere you shop! Just tie it to your Google+ account for automatic cash-back rewards.....and then please ignore anything that your always-on Nest thermostat might start doing while you're home."

Work the system!
Myself, my 3 sisters and all the nephews and nephetts all give my parents phone number at Kroger. They get the gas discount.

We use one of my sisters depending on where we shopping and which one uses that stores points.

When my parents need gas I go at the same time. They pull up to the pump. I pull in behind them, I pump (fill-up) for them when they drive off I lay the nozzle down pull up and get the rest of the 35 gallon max. @ $1 off.

I do wonder if Kroger thinks my parents drink 6 gallons of milk, 5-8 cases of beer, and goes through ~30 roll of charmin a week...
