HaHa.
I have enjoyed reading this thread full of ignorance.
RG3 is a scrambling quarterback in a league that beats the crap out of scrambling quarterbacks. He hasn't proven he can drop back and stand in against the rush. Without that he is still just a target.
Name the scrambling quarterbacks that have won the super bowl.
Name the pocket passers who have won multiple super bowls.

He's faster than most "scrambling quarterbacks." His 76 yard touchdown run wasn't "scrambling" - it was a quarterback draw. A quarterback who always stays in the pocket - you don't need extra players to act as a spy to make sure that quarterback isn't going to take off. He's got incredible accuracy throwing - highest completion rate in the NFL. He's fast - 4th in the all time books for rushing yards by a quarterback in one game (already!). And, watch how quickly he scans the field - he waits for something to open; he hangs in the pocket and occasionally takes a hit while completing a pass. But, if he sees that big run open up, he's smart enough to grab the easy 10-15 yard gain - (but as mentioned in this thread, has to learn to slide, instead of taking hits.) Watch these highlights, and watch how balanced he is in his attack. http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=aNAJODw_XUg Sure, he can scramble, he can run the quarterback draw really well, and he can pass very well while rolling out or staying in the pocket. That's a lot of weapons to defend against.
The play at the 1:48 mark is what I'm talking about, he lowers his shoulder in midfield. He can't do that shit in the NFL. He's smart though so I'm sure he'll learn.
Running QB's are the future, I've tagged this thread for reference in five years.
There's no reason you cannot be fast and throw, it's rare, but there are many levels of filters. After T-Brady and the Mannings retire, the league will shift to smart, fast QB's. The rising stars in the league have the ability to elude the pass rush(which means making yards) and also complete passes(which means making more yards).
What makes you think that running QBs are the future? Its not like this idea is new to the NFL, there have been quite a few scrambling/mobile quarterbacks in the past.

It's going to suck playing against him 2x a year.

spoken like someone who doesn't know what he's talking about.
also, didn't you read my post on page 1? steve young?
Clearly Luck is ahead in all aspects of his life.

Steve Young in 13 years with the 49'ers had 600 rushes.
Joe Montana in 13 years had 457 rushes.
John Elway in 16 years had 774 rushes.
So, just stfu about Steve Young:biggrin:
He was a passing quarterback who could run when forced to. And his number show he ran about as often as other passing quarterbacks. He just got more yards when forced to run.
I remember how all gaga everyone has been over the years when a rushing quarterback goe on a run. Before Michael Vick it was Vince Young, etc, etc.
I remember when Randall Cunningham was going to be the best quarterback ever.

Man, there are a lot of morons who don't know what they're talking about in this thread... RG3 is like Vick? RG3 is like Can Newton?
Some of the dumbest shit regarding football that I've ever read.
LOL, please
After Brady and the Mannings retire there will still be Aaron Rodgers who is probably the best QB in the league TODAY, Matt Ryan, Matthew Stafford, Andrew Luck, even Matt Barkley (dude is going to be a stud in the NFL)
You are wrong. Mark this thread, we'll come back in 5 years and see who the top QB's in the league are. I just created the list for you

Not to mention, RG3 is on pace for 150 rush attempts this year ALONE. It should be mentioned that the acknowledged rushing QBs (Vick, Cunningham, and hell, throw in Newton) NEVER had that many rushing attempts in a single season.
At this pace, over a 13 year career, that would be 1,950 rush attempts. Yeah, he sure isn't a "rushing" QB. LOL! Not to mention when I tuned in to the Skins-Giants games, I saw all sorts of weird offensive formations which were reminiscent of the wildcat, wishbone, etc. Let's run some real offenses and not the kiddy crap, Washington.
Also, let's look at pass attempts:rush attempts for the QBs, shall we?
Steve Young: 4149:722 5.75 pass attempts per rush attempt
Cunningham: 4289:775 5.5 pass attempts per rush attempt
Vick: 2769:770 3.6 pass attempts per rush attempt
Hmmm, who is dead last? Oh wait:
Griffin: 189:64 3 pass attempts per rush attempt
Yeah, he isn't a rushing QB. He has only rushed more (both in number of attempts/season (running the numbers out to a full season) and in pass/rush ratio) than the biggest acknowledged rushing QBs in recent history. Yes, we're not done with the season and his rushing attempts could go down. But with what we've got so far, that's how the picture looks.
(For reference to a classic pocket passer, Manning's ratio is 21 pass attempts:rush attempts)
If RG3 had Jerry Rice, Randy Moss, or Chris Carter I'm sure his rushing attempts would go down too...
