I have the Sunbeam Technology fan Rheobus, the four aluminum knobs with corresponding bi-polar LEDs the ones that change from red to blue depending on fan intensity. Well recently I moved my PC a little bit and now the lights shine directly into the sides of my eyes and are beginning to form cataracts. So i've made some crappy cardboard screen to cover them but it looks ridiculous. Does anyone have any ideas on how I might be able to not make them create such a strong beam of light. I don't know if filing the ends of the LEDs would create a rough enough surface to defract the light properly. Help me out. Thanks in advance!

Well I have everything situated so that I can read my temperature readout on my PC perfectly and access all my optical drives easily. I wish it were that simple!

You can push the LEDs in slightly so they don't glare into your vision from the floor. The LEDs are also socketed so you can replace them if you like.

I don't know which the LED's use though - common anode or cathode - plus or minus in the middle. I haven't tested the LED's to see which the center lead is. You'd need a replacement LED with the same center one, at least if you want it to change colors the way the originals do.

Hrmm, maybe try to use a resistor between the LEDs. Or like the other guy said, LEDs on the Sunbeam are a snap to replace.

The 2 leads on the outside should be the cathodes (Positive) and the middle one should be the Anode (negative) you can test it out by running power to one side using the middle as the common and see what color lights up. I find it hard to fine blue/red bi-color LEDs so you may want to find a solution that doesn't involve removing them. You could try pushing the LEDs back into the rheobus like beatle meantioned or you can take some fine grit sandpaper and kinda rough up the LED Lens to make it kinda cloudy.
