Ok guys, don't flame this thread please!

I have always hated rice boy cars b/c of their sound and lack of 'raw horsepower'. BUT I just recently saw 'The Fast and the Furious' and MAN am I lovin those cars! I got more excited during that movie than I did during 'Gone in 60 Seconds'!

Anyways, I'm a Mustang man. I have a '66 Mustang coupe that I'm customizing right now and I should have it on the road again next week. She's been in the shop for over 6 months, ever since she got rear-ended

I posted this thread to get your opinions. Which do you prefer?

1. V8 w/ 500 Horsepower
2. Rice boy car with 500 Horsepower

Personally I'd still go with the V8 but I now have a respect for the Rice Boy cars. There's a science to getting a V4 up to 500hp! I LOVE the look of them! I wish I had a good 1600x1200 background image of some of those cars!

Ok guys/girls, give me your feedback. But remember NO FLAMING! Thanks!

Technology or brawn, that is the question.

I like the way they look and all the cool gadgets they had in them. I do have a friend who has a 280z, and is planing on dropping in a chevy small block V8 in there. And then rice the car out. It should own most cars on the road when he is done with it.

it all comes down to personal preference. i personally prefer effciency and therefore imports - both japanese and european. to ME it seems as though american car designers are dumb. instead of thinking of how to improve an engine, they take the easy way out - "yeah, we'll just slap a bigger engine on there."

can you imagine what kind of a monster you'd have if a viper got as many hp/liter as a skyline?

Like I've always thought, a vortek sticker adds 10% HP, a chrome tailpipe cover adds about 5% and playing loud hiphop reduces air drag with the 10' high wing on the back, especially while cruising on 30mph in traffic.

don't forget lowering the car til it's scraping the ground...another 17% boost.

If i took the money that they did with my 302 v8 I'd kill them. Its sad that they are putting in 10k or more into cars that aren't ment to do it. If i tossed 10k or more into my car theres no way a 4cyl could keep up

also like snakesnfrogs said.....

Those 4 cyl are inline 4's... not v4's.... Inlines burn cleaner and more efficient. Auto makers are moving back to the inline engines. Gm has a new inline 6. The only reason that people go with V is that it's smaller length wise and can fit more easily into the car.

There's a science to getting a V4 up to 500hp!

HP is a dime a dozen... show me a V4 with 500LBS of Testosterone.. oh wait I meant TORQUE and I'll be impressed

BTW that Science is called BOOST

I would definatly take the v8.

4 bangers just do not have the low end torque to make the ride fun.

Ok, I posted a big post and it timedout so I lost everything doh

Anyways, I prefer my V8 302 66 Mustang b/c she's beautiful, the low-rumble turns me on, and she's MINE.

I like the Rice Boy cars, but nothin beats the sound and feeling of a Carburated V8 engine!!
