Was this man not known to be rich before? I don't see what the big deal is.

A buddy of mine has a black card. He doesn't get treated any differently when people see it.

Does he frequent high-end places? My friend also has one and when we go to night clubs in the city they will let us right in and provide us table service, or when I've been shopping with him at high-end places they sometimes will either close the store or provide him a personal shopper, etc. Also when travelling he automatically is upgraded, and when he wanted superbowl tickets last year he called 3 days before and they had the tickets overnighted to him in the lower level...not to mention it def turns some girls' heads at even a local dive bar (sure, they may be golddiggers but whatever no one is looking to marry 'em)

Trust me...there are benefits, maybe your buddy just isn't using them to his full advantage.

It doesn't matter how often or what frequency your amex isn't taken, why not just have a quick get out of a jam cash on hand. takes up little space. It would be the equivalent of you or me keeping an emergency 50 in our wallet.

I didn't say don't carry your amex. and btw amex black card or not amex isn't accepted everywhere, though its probably not an issue in Manhattan.

There are very few "jams" as you put it where $5,000 in cash would help you without being some sort of shady possibly illegal transaction.

Also, do you know what pulling out a stack of 100s gets you? Mugged.

then don't carry it man. I dont care what you would do. If someone is gonna mug me for my cash they were probably going to stick me for my watch anyways.(def >5k)

Damn, I've never see a store close or anything, but he'll get better seats at restaurants and stuff. He definitely takes advantage of airline upgrades and things like that, I've just never really noticed anyone gawk over the card. Maybe I'm blind though

Also, he almost exclusively visits crazy-expensive places, especially for food.

i would hope he has way more $$$ than that. I wouldnt leave the bulk of my $$ in an account attached to an ATM/debit card. they are like the least secure system ever

Maybe if you're an idiot [or you just don't care]....

Yea same with my friend...loves good restaurants. Went to Spain recently and ate at Ferran Adria's new restaurant, he told me and my other buddy that this dinner was "on him and to get anything we wanted"...total bill was like $1500 for three of us (mainly cause of the bottles of wine we drank)...great meal though. One of the best I've ever had.

im less shocked that someone in NYC has that kind of money then the fact that someone took the time to look at the receipt and then turn it into some website that ive never heard of

I'm confused, how is the guy arrogant? How is he any more arrogant than the guy who leaves his ATM receipt showing a balance of $23.51 in the machine? Stupid jealous reporters.

The guy should have taken that slip, gone to some fancy club, macked on the hottest chick there saying he was from out of town and then wrote his phone number on the back of it to give to her.

It only works once, but it's free so...

Besides documenting an amazing $99,864,731.94 savings account, it illustrates one truth that every New Yorker knows -- no matter who you are or how much you have, you can't escape ATM fees.

How absurd. I wish my savings balance showed that.

You know what though?

The ATM limit affects this guy just like anyone else.

Here he is with $100 million and all he can spend at that moment is $400

It varies per bank policy and bank account class. I have taken out $2500 from my local ATM (I don't use "big name" banks) without a problem. The VP told me I have a $10k/day cap on ATM withdrawals.

i just think its pretty funny, considering 250k is FDIC haha

This. You'd think someone with ~$100,000,000 would have enough sense to hire a financial manager, and that financial manager would have enough sense to tell him/her that s/he stands to lose $99,750,000 on that bank.

Some trophy wife is wondering why her husband needed $400 cash at 10pm.

That's what I was thinking. All that money can technically go "poof".

And I once had an atm receipt before my transaction that showed a -1,047,435.37 balance on it. This is likely a computer glitch, nobody is that stupid to keep it all in savings. Unless they are so loaded they wouldn't be concerned about losing it.
