It seems like there are a lot of these available CHEAP out there - Like 100 for $25 w/sleeves. I'm looking for some good, archival quality GOLD CDR's - I've already got a ton of L-CHEEP-0 CDR's for non-critical stuff.

I know that these are just 74 min - but that's OK. Anybody got an opinion on these?

well unless it is a great deal with reabtes or something I have never seen any good gold cd-rs at 25 cents per disc... so buyer beware...

I buy tdk 80min cds (non-gold) and usually pay like 33 cents or more per disc for blue or green bottoms...TDK has pretty good rep so I stick with them...

I would think, and I don't buy them yet, that 50 cent plus would be a closer cost...

But who knows I could be wrong and mayvbe they are cheap merely cause 80 minutes are starting to be the norm now...

The last TDK's I bought were very dark blue & could not play them back on my DVD player or Car CD player. I already got a spool of Fuji (tayio yuden) - they're OK, but the top does not look protected enough (IMO) - lot's of exposed silver. Other brands I've tried:

Maxell - suck
Memorex - suck
HQ (Fry's) - actually pretty good for $7 a spindle
Imation 74min - OK
Imation 80min - so-so
CrapUSA Silver - so-so
Ricoh Platinum - Excellent
Taiyo Yuden Unbranded (gold top) - Excellent
TDK - good protection, but too dark

No experience with Gold - other than the Mitsui Gold that came with my burner (but who the hell can afford those).

Others?

I bought some, and the ring has the word "mitsui", the total look of the disc is exactly same as the free mitsui disc got from adaptec (the roxie page signup to get a free cd-r - a hot deal long time ago),
and I used them, they're excellent, better than TDK since they're green (type 1) instead of blue (type 0), so my car cd changer can play them.

I always thought that Ricoh's were considered one of the best in terms of quality. I wouldn't mind using the Ricoh golds for important stuff.

Where are you getting them at $25 for 100?
