I ordered the Ridata 4X DVD+Rs (100pack) a few months ago and have been very happy with them, over 50 burns with no coasters, plus they have a matte top. These have the exact same packaging except they are 8x instead of 4x, so I would guess these too are matte. I'll maybe pick up a pack myself (gotta think about how many DVD+Rs are too many)

Ordered and got it today. Realize it's the same as the Ridata 4x DVD+R I ordered from newegg 3 months back. It's Ritek R03. Is this a true 8x disk?

Do you have any of the 4x's left to see if they'll do 8x? It could be these could always do 8x, but were just sold as 4x.

These burn on my drive at 8x without any firmware editing.

Same disc code (unless there's a difference between "02" &amp; "02H") I got from Ridata/Ritek 8X DVD+R's from Newegg &amp; they can do 8X on my drive.

I have a 16X burner coming on Monday...will these burn faster than 8x? Anyone tried? Is it normal to be able to burn them faster than rated, or am i going to coaster (this is my first DVD burner)...?

Any idea on how compatible these will be for stand alone DVD players? Will they read in any computer DVD drive?

I've determined that the 8x Ritek/Ridata only burn at 4x in some drives depending on it's media code. For example:

Using DVD Identifier, one spindle of these reported they were Ritek R03-001, the other spindle was R03-002

NEC3500A
-001 Nero only allowed 4x
-002 Nero allowed 8x
modded FW

Nu DDW-082
-001 8x
-002 8x
stock FW

So it seems some drives don't like the -001 as much or they can't be reliably burned at 8x.

BTW, NE has these for a buck cheaper.
