Three kids are standing in a line. From a collection of two red hats and three black hats, their teacher places a hat on each child's head. The third child sees the hats on two heads, the middle child sees the hat on one head, and the first child sees no hats. The children, who are exceptionally smart children, are told to speak out as soon as they know the color of the hat they are wearing. After 30 seconds pass, the front child correctly names the color of his hat.

What color is it?

cuz the first kid took the 30sec silence from the other 2 as hints to what his is.

The front two kids couldn't both have red, because then the back kid would know he has black. If the front kid has red, the middle kid knows he has black, because if he had red the back kid would say something. So if no one says anything, the front kid knows he has black....

The third kid would know that his hat is black if the hats on the first two kids are red. Since he doesn't speak up, the first two kids must have either one red hat and one black hat or two black hats.

The second kid would therefore know that his hat was black if the first kid's hat was red, but his hat could be either red or black if the first child's hat is black.

If the second kid doesn't speak, then the first kid knows that his hat must be black.

It is black but here's an actual *explanation*:

If the guy in the back can see both the two in the front and doesn't raise his hand, that means that there can only be one red hat between the two students in front of him so he has no idea what color his hat is since there are still hats of either color available. The middle student can only see in front of him so he can either guess or rely on the student behind him to provide the answer. Since neither occurs, and we know that there can only be one red hat between the two front students, this leaves only one logical conclusion: that the student in front does not have a red hat nor does the student in the middle because if either did, the last student could guess with a high probability that he is wearing a black hat.
I dunno, that's my guess
I went over my explanation a few times but was unable to explain it the way I wanted to I know I'm on the right track though.

Its a 50/50 guess really.

cuz the first kid took the 30sec silence from the other 2 as hints to what his is.

Thats how he/she would figure it out, yes, but we dont know what color the back kid's hats are. I would say black, because if the back two had red hats, and they guessed it correctly, it would be fairly obvious.

if the second kid knows the third kid doesnt know and he sees a red hat in from of him the second can answer the question so the second kid has to see a black hat :

The combinations of hats that this makes sense for are:

321
___
BRB
RRB
BBB
RBB

those are the combinations where neither position 3 nor 2 can determine what color hat they are wearing and all of them result in position 1 wearing a black hat
