The ladder came from the prop department. The prop department also got the helmets out of the way after they took them off.

It's coming out on the 9th I believe. Ill be getting the BD version for sure. And now that I have upgraded my sound system, it's going to be a treat on my 60" TV.

So how fast did Prometheus travel on average? Assume 1 day is 24 hours, not 36 hours. Note: 2092 is a leap year.

Distance - 3.27 x10 (to the 14th) kilometers.
Time - 2 years, 4 months, 18 days, 36 hours, 15 minutes.

I think they went back in time when they arrived at LV-223. ^_^

Light-year

9.4607×10 (to the 12th) km

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_of_light

This is pretty roundish, and I didn't include leap years, but they went just under 15 times the speed of light on average, with a peak speed of something much higher to account for acceleration and deceleration.

So my understanding of this is, when you hit C, time nearly stops for you relative to everything else. You wouldn't travel backwards in time though, in fact quite the opposite, you would travel to the future much faster than everything else.

So how do you hit a group of stars (a relatively tiny area), 35 light years away, which you can not know the precise motion of, and which will be millions (thousands, billions??) of years removed from where you saw it when you left?

Can some math geek please come explain this?

Also, why do they call 35 light years "so far away", when that is pretty much in our back yard in the grand scheme of things?

I got this. I've had to pull out my dusty TI-89 but the solution I have is...POTATO. Hope this help answered any questions you have about this scientifically and mathematically accurate movie.

So I just watched all the deleted scenes and alternate endings. I have to say that a majority of it should have stayed in the movie to help flesh out the characters motivations. It wouldn't have fixed many things, but would have made things flow better and not left people scratching their heads as to why.

I actually prefer the alternate ending to a degree. I get the impression they cut this movie for time.

I watched it last night and I enjoyed it.
My kids watched it with me but were kind of confused at the end of the movie. So I guess we are going to watch Alien and Aliens to help them see what happened after Prometheus.

Prometheus Easter egg hints at Blade Runner crossover ^_^

Prometheus lands on DVD and Blu-ray this week, and a new Easter egg on the disc hints at a possible link between with Ridley Scott’s earlier sci-fi triumph, Blade Runner.

The DVD is hiding a screen’s worth of text written by Guy Pearce’s Peter Weyland, who makes reference to “a mentor and long-departed competitor”.
You can take a look at the message in full below. See if you can work out just who he’s talking about…

Anyone who came up with the name Eldon Tyrell, give yourself a gold star, as it is clearly the creator of the replicants that Weyland is referring to. Pretty cool, no?

Does anyone know if the Ultra Violet version has the deleted/extended scenes? I'm probably the last person in the world who doesn't own a Blu-ray player.

pretty funny that they can travle 15x the speed of light in this movie but in all other movies set in the suture the reason they go into stasis is because they cant and it takes forever to get anywhere

Yeah awesome. I can't wait for him to ruin that franchise as well.

Edit: I just checked IMDB, and it appears he is busy ruining it right now.

I just can't understand how you make Alien, Blade Runner, Thelma and Louise, and this garbage.

You forgot "The Duellists", an extraordinary movie: his first (!) and a triumph at Cannes.

And yes, I didn't like "Prometheus". A lot of wasted potential.

17 (+1) people on board.. did they list all 17 characters and their functions?
or only the 10 or so that spoke and all the rest were red shirts?

I didn't forget the Duelists. I love The Duelists. It's just that on any given day 1 & 2 are my favorite American-made films and what I term thematically and artistically flawless, and Thelma and Louise is extraordinary. Those movies simply pale The Duelists.

1. The original Alien
2. The amazing trailer for Prometheus
3. The colossal let-down for most fans of Ridley Scott / Alien
