that sucker will make games look better than you ever thought possible.

I'd have tried that monitor had it not been for the fact that my desk is made of GLASS.

Thanks everyone for the compliments. But honestly, I went a bit over the top. Thinking about it again, the difference between GTX SLI and GTX 512 SLI seems minimal. I think anyone with GTX SLI (or GT SLI for that matter) need not upgrade.

you wasted your money the gtx's would of been good enough you had before than you did this and your selling your old cards but he problem is like one of those cards is worth two of the cards your selling lol.

Maybe, But the performance issue i would think is because the CPU is a big bottle neck especially for SLi. But have you tried playing with 16x SLi AA with 16x AF? Or even 8xS?

lopri, can you do me a favor and go and vote in this poll as I can see you own 2 GTX512's. Make sure you post at least once in there and say what you have.

Thanks bud.

Your score seems low to me. I just ran '05 with a dual core at 2.7ghz, system memory at just under 200mhz, and 2x 7800gtx cards and got 13519. They are stock overclocked ASUS, at 486/1350. I would think with the massive core/memory clock advantage you should be ~2k up from me.

My guess is it's the CPU. Yes and I had scored near 14K with 256MB GTX SLI, which is only 500~1000 point difference from with GTX 512 SLI. From what I've seen, 14K+ score seems normal for GTX 512 SLI as of now.

P.S. Couple of findings:
1. Heatpipes on the cards get quite hot. (can't touch longer than 5 secs) It's strange because the NVIDIA control panel never reports over 60C (for the bottom card) / 65C (for the top card).
2. These are true power hogs. OK this is already known but I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I have a Monster power bar which reports power usage, and according to the reading my system + monitor (80W max) + speakers (120W max) draw 600W from the wall!! Of course that's when the system is heavily (read: near max) stressed but it's still unbelivable nonetheless. And my speakers were barely making any noise. Even after considering the efficiency of the PSU, my system should be sucking up at least 400W+ of power. Just something to consider (i.e. PSU) if you think of picking one of these.

High end SLI systems dont scale well in 3dmark because futuremark feels that 1024x768 is still used by anyone whos spent money on a video card in the last half decade.

My friggin 6600GT plays games at 1280x960...

They really need to incrase the default resolution to tax the fill rate of the high end cards and SLI systems more.
