Most of those companies shouldn't even be open for business today, they should have gone under long ago. What's with all these large government bailouts over the past century? Government needs to get out of business and let Capitalism's will be done.

Ford was not bailed out.

If it weren't for the mentally handicapped retards such as yourself, we wouldn't be able to misinterpret previous meanings/accomplishments of worker unions to the pathetic group of imbeciles that we have today.

Unions suck; they shift the burden from person A to person B. They don't do any good.

A major problem is the minimum wage which is probably about to go up and that will make it an even bigger problem. I'd be willing to work for $3 an hour depending on the job. Too bad no one may give me a job at that rate.

Fortunately for you, you don't have to pay any overhead, living with Mom & Dad... $6240/yr won't get you very far out in the world. Neither will the current minimum wage, $15,080/yr full time...

If we beat down wages, who's going to pay the bills on the vast expanses of American suburbia, anyway? Mortgages, utilities, car loans, insurance, food, entertainment, taxes? Jo Momma?

Wages don't need to go down- they need to go up. Unions help make that happen. It's not like America's investor/ownership class is suffering from anything other than greed... They did great when ~1/3 of the workforce was union, back in the 50's. They can afford to pay more.

The top 1% share of national income has basically doubled over the last 30 years, following the demise of unions, entirely at the expense of the lower 60%. To hear them tell it, they're practically starving. Go figure.

Ford was not bailed out.

No, but their major suppliers, like Delphi, were. The auto industry is no longer vertically integrated, at all. No parts, no cars. None of the makers can survive w/o outside vendors.

Because when one small group controls either side of the supply/demand equation, efficiency goes out the window.

You can preach on about unskilled labor all you want, but the fact is, minimum wage is 25% less than it was 20 years ago. There are a huge swath of Americans working for under $10 an hour. This is not a livable wage, even at full time, in a lot of places.

Adapt or die.

Plenty of people are living just fine with 1/3 of that wage in Mexico, India, China, etc... But apparently THAT IS JUST UNLIVABLE!!!111 here

You get elected to a Union position by promising to enforce the contract between Company and you. You get reelected by circumventing said same. It is wrong but that is sort of the way it works. I never liked that aspect of Union life but unless you want to spend your entire life tilting at windmills you take the good with the bad.
Don't forget management may choose anyone it likes to negotiate (college, experience and many other reasons folks are hired to management) while the Union guys are elected from a pool of employees. (popularity contest) Who would you vote for? Someone who did exactly what contract says or someone who can get you that little extra?
