Yet you can be much more productive with those toys than on a blackberry because they didn't keep up software wise. Blackberry still can't be beat today type on but their software just couldn't keep up with anything modern.
This comment brought to you by 2011.

It doesn't matter because the game is over, but you are wrong.

Productive doing what exactly, playing minion rush like I do? Damn fun but nothing like communication with a real business device.

How can you argue that a BB is more productive than any other device from a user perspective?

Considering security, centralized control and ease of use for communication in a business environment they are more productive hands down. For recreation and wasting fucking time you can pull out your iDick. I will admit that Apple has made a lot of improvements over the last 5 years, but ffs it was only catching up with what BB had 5 years ago. The only thing BB lacked was fucking games that the mindless sheep flocked to, for REAL productivity BB was always a leader. Their downfall was underestimating the stupidity of the average American and their desire to rot their brains out.

From an IT perspective BB offered amazing control. Android and iOS do not have anything near what BES provided 10 years ago.
Therein lies much of the problem. They offered control to the IT dept, but it doesn't help if your users hate using the devices.

Blackberry designed a user experience that was about as good as a website designed by a computer programmer.

The "user experience" for business related activities was above and beyond, what was missing was fart simulators and other mindless trash that the consumer market wanted.

As I said, BES 4.0 still trumps anything that is available from iOS or Android developers and it has to be 10 years old. That being said, how can you argue that BB makes a person more productive from a usability standpoint? Usability meaning end user usability.

I totally agree. BB is akin to Flash sites.

I'd still like to have one of the camera-free models. Some places dont allow cameras, my last job Hynix was a prime example.

That list is a little misleading since it is by OS, all new BB phones are Android so their real sales are concealed in the big Android bucket...not saying they were huge but more than what is being presented.

RIM has frequently said they're moving away from smartphone manufacturing. This isn't a surprise. I think the company itself is doing ok, just not this particular outdated and retired piece of it.

At least they know that nobody wants to use Blackberry OS anymore. I wonder how long it's going to take for the Windows Phone and Ubuntu Phone guys to figure that nobody wants to use their phone OS, either.

So I'm jumping in here...

Why did Whatsapp end up controlling the messaging market and not blackberry? BB came before whatsapp too.

I have a priv. It is a great device. But for some reason background it uses up a ton of data and I get messages saying it isn't entirely secure. Worse, out of all of my devices, the Priv occasionally gets these weird little popups. And I've reset it, replaced the router, but only the Priv is acting up with these popups.

From what I've heard, QNX has great automobile applications? Like, Apple is using QNX in Apple Carplay, right?

I don't think anyone really controls the messaging market. It is more like a fragmented disaster. The only phone company really leveraging messaging for their benefit is Apple with iMessage, but it being so dominant and being on one platform just makes things worse.

The car manufacturers are using QNX that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Apple is able to interface with QNX, but it is more like a mirrored version of the iOS device that is locked down to apps needed for driving.

Yeah, it's kind of ironic that Blackberry outlived PliableMoose...who predicted its death years ago.

They have been every bit as "dead" as he or anyone else expected. This is the death we talked about. RIM / Blackberry is no longer relevant or significant or consequential. They're basically dead as far as consumers and most businesses are concerned. I mean, it's somewhat likely that a small piece of something would remain. I mean, the Atari company we knew is dead, but even the "Atari" name didn't ever go away completely.
