The quote is "1 carat ring for less than 1k"

1) a diamond without a band is not a ring.
2) I can't find a 1 carat diamond under 1k @ pricescope under any stats. The diamond I listed is the cheapest diamond I could find @ 1 carat.

when you combine points 1 and 2, you arrive at my conclusion: it is impossible to buy a 1 carat diamond engagement ring for less than 1k, and it most certainly is not "easy".

Jackass, I just told you to whip open your next Sunday Paper Macy's ad

You're putting this into the perspective of individual buying individual diamonds? Really?

And when you end up comparing them side by side there will be a dramatic difference, even if the Blue Nile diamond is exactly the same specs on paper.

...What exactly are you saying here?

That if you had diamonds with the exact same specs (C's) - that you would easily be able to decipher between the two?

If thats what you're saying, I would say you're full of shit :whiste:

After having sold my mother's jewelry to a diamond broker after her death, what I know for sure is to buy used.

Buying any diamond from any source (thus creating the demand for their worthless product) is supporting slavery/child labor/genocide/terrorism/ect. Feel good about yourselves.

Shit makes me fucking sick. 'But you'll have to do it one day,' I have to listen to people tell me. 'No, I don't currently have any plans to get engaged to a delusional whore.'

Aaaaand my point stands. Pull up a Macy's ad or <insert any other department store>

I don't think you'll find any 1ct diamond rings from any department store ad, but I don't care enough to argue this any further.

No. I'm saying that the specs are subjective and unregulated. Even if you sent two scientifically identical diamonds to GIA to be graded, they may come back with different grades based on who graded them, and that's sending them to the same school!

There is plenty of wiggle room in diamond grading, and the vast majority of stones are not even certified. Your authentic Tiffany diamond is undoubtedly superior to the BN diamond DESPITE the fact that the spec sheet says yours is only Very Good symmetry and the BN diamonds is listed as Excellent. The color difference is nominal, and could also be misrepresented at BN.

This is why I insist that any savvy shopper NEVER EVER EVER buy a diamond sight unseen.

I told you where to go. You are wrong. No big deal. But he is probably thinking of the 1ct. TW ads, because I don't even see many department stores selling large diamonds.

I don't have any indian jewelers near me and I don't like haggling, so moot point for me.

Diamond debate aside, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned jamesallen.com. Highly rated and reviewed. 60day return policy, so you can inspect the ring and think long and hard before you have to commit. Other vendors may have caught up.

I spent way too many weeks researching, and that in itself was a moderate waste of time.

I should have listened to the general guidelines, bought one to inspect, and decided myself.

I ended up with a 0.89 carat, AGS000, J VS1 with HCA scores in the ideal range..that rock sparkles white in a dimly lit room. Blows away most full carat stones and then some. She said yes and still gets comments on a regular basis.

My rec is to find something as close to ideal as budget will allow, have it set and sent to you, and let your eyes decide. Don't let the online research black hole suck you in. Like everyone said, start at pricescope.

At least with BN there's recourse if you're not satisfied. I took mine directly to a local appraiser as soon as I got it. There was no question I got exactly what I was expecting.

I've been looking at James Allen. Probably buying from them or Brian Gavin.

Jamesallen, goodoldgold, or briangavin. Fck the rest. Or you could get something that shines even brighter and just about as hard but not nearly as expensive (moissanite).

So now my Fiance found one she really likes off of Zales.com which seems to be rated highly as well. I'll be ordering it soon and we'll see what happens. Still worried about not seeing it in person but I know the return policy is very lenient.

Check out that other ring thread for inspiration. Nothing in the whole world would say "I love you" like a ring truly given from one's self.

Ding, you nailed it - she picked it out, now you'll both be happy. Worked for me! (took her ring shopping)
