Yeah, I stopped using the crappy software that came with it and used WMP9 to transfer stuff...that worked well enough.Originally posted by: jtallon
I was actually happy with the HARDWARE on the Riot I had about a year ago. I thought the software they included with it was the biggest pile of crap I've ever seen. I love that the Riot has a built in FM tuner - that's a rare feature on mp3 portables...
The software sucks because it can't handle 20 gig of mp3's. So they give you a 20-gig player, but the software will crash if you try to transfer more than about 3 gig of mp3's at a time... Oh yeah - the USB 1.1 doesn't help either...

I would suggest this RCA Lyra, same price plus free shipping, supports MP3 Pro, also works as external drive. No FM though..

Not too bad, but how do you know he's not a Yao Ming size asian? I guess if he's as big as myself, who is also an asian, then that device is not so big after all.
I got mine at the Wiz too! Of course, I talked them down to $50 for it.Originally posted by: rich120
I got mine for about that price at a Wiz liquidation sale. I haven't had a single problem yet. I use both RealPlayer and WMP9 to downgrade songs to 128 kbps and have 15 gigs happily on my device.
I don't know either. After I gave up on RMA'ing mine, I took it apart. The circuit boards and HD don't require that space. If they used a rectangular battery instead of the huge cylindrical one that's in there, they could've gotten it down to a much smaller size.Originally posted by: BigM
I seriously have no idea what the designers of this unit were smoking. If it just didnt have those flaired corners, it would be a decent size. The corners make it a good inch taller...thats alot in the world of portable mp3 players.
