Still no real coverage of Deandre Joshua, shot in the head and set on fire near where Brown was shot. So far it looks related to testimony to the grand jury.

Didn't the church that the Brown's go to torched on the first night of riots? :hmm:

There is a lot of stuff the media is missing. That, johnson changing his story so much, is bracelet next to the suv and his dna in there, what they did for 4hrs before the shooting, browns stepdad being a gang member...so much the media refuses to acknowledge.

Not sure about all you mentioned but a witness being killed over his supposed testimony is taking things way too far. Either I'm failing to comprehend the groundswell of anger in the black community over this killing or this is just a way of life in that area. Either way, there are deeper problems that need to be addressed.

More info?

Nobody has been able to chase enough down to know what happened. Just know that the guy is dead, shot in the head and burned in a trunk, after he is suspected of giving pro-wilson testimony that contradicted his friend, Dorian Johnson. Dorian is now in protective custody apparently.

There is a *lot* more going on here than people appreciate. There's a reason why Dorian was seen with a known agitator on camera right after the shooting. Why he lied about where he was, where he was going, and what happened. Why Piaget and the other girl lied. Why so many came out of the woodwork and lied. It's not because they wanted "justice", it's because there's a lot of power and money in getting things frothed up.

This little race war they have going on is *not* incidental.

I think the best solution for this whole situation is for police officers to shoot at the legs. Maybe they should get special training for that. The idea is to stop the perpetrator, not kill him. Even if it means that the perpetrator may lose his legs. His fault for committing a crime.
Even in a worst case scenario where a perpetrator is strung out on drugs and agressive, he cannot run and attack without knees.

Do you have any idea what it's like to shoot a gun at a real target? That is laughable. You NEVER shoot to disable. You WILL miss and you WILL suffer consequences. You only never point your gun at something living unless you intend to kill it. That's a rule that keeps people alive on BOTH sides.

It sounds great to "shoot the legs out" as an alternative but there is no training which makes that a viable solution because in the real world people get shot and continue to advance anyway. They have time to harm or kill another and that is not something which can be permitted. A continual focus and repetitive exercises on the use of deadly force is a better alternative, but this takes money, something that departments are chronically short of. Shooting to wound makes for dead people besides the perp. People talk about excessive force used on Brown and how sad that was, but suppose he or someone else was armed and killed some child while firing back? Would there be riots in the street for him or her? Not on you life.

The human animal is not a stationary paper target. It is a robust organism which can continue destructive acts even when mortally wounded. That's biology and there's nothing for it.

The legs contain major arteries. Death from blood loss is quite common with serious leg injuries. The legs are quite well connected to the circulatory system; the femoral arteries branch from the descending aorta which itself connects to the heart. Sever the femoral artery and you're dead in 10 minutes.

Have you seen the movie Black Hawk Down? The scene where the wounded ranger was bleeding out and the medics were trying to stop the bleeding. That was the femoral artery in his leg they were trying to clamp down on. The guy died in minutes from blood loss.

Long story short, this whole theory of shooting someone in the leg is horseshit.

This. You have a criminal with a gun and you need to stop him now. He can still wave the gun around and blow you away with disabled legs. When stopping a dangerous threat you shoot center mass in the chest. The end point is to disrupt the respiratory/circulatory system so onset of death is rapid. Only a head shot is better but significantly harder to pull off.

There's the problem. It's true someone can't run without knees but that does not mean they cannot do mayhem with the rest of their body in that several minutes. In combat remarkable feats are accomplished by men who are already dead but just don't know it. This assumes that one can hit a leg to begin with, otherwise worse consequences can result.

Tasers are one shot only. Wilson missed a 300 pound man roughly half of his shots. Hitting a moving target with a handgun (or taser) is more difficult than you think. Hitting a knee sized target? Possible for a good marksman IF the victim is standing still. But, if he's standing still, why would you shoot him?

A knee is smaller than a clay pigeon. It takes quite a bit of practice and skill to hit a clay pigeon with a *shotgun* that spreads out the shot to hit a fairly broad area. I could wager with people all day long that they can't hit 1 out of 100 shots at a clay pigeon with a handgun. The "shoot the legs" people have been watching too much television.

Well, use an uzi or another automatic weapon.

In all seriousness, i guess you are right.
The real issue is to how to get a perpetrator harmless when does not want to be. A MAD (Mutual assured destruction) principle does not work with guns, otherwise perpetrators would not fight or shoot back at the police.

...and taser barbs often don't embed correctly to deliver the stun.

That is what might happen. The guy even had a lot of exposed skin that wasn't covered with clothing and it still had no effect.

I mentioned taser because it's considered more humane and an alternative to killing someone. Certainly better than shotting someone in the leg, imho. Also, a taser has a much larger surface area compared to a bullet and there are two of them. Finally, a taser will definitely stop a person cold compared to a bullet. You shoot a bullet at a 300lbs man and he can still grab you and hurt you real bad. Shoot a taser and he stiffens up like a 2'X4' and falls hard to the ground. That'll give you time to put the cuffs on him.

You missed something.

If both barbs don't embed, the taser doesn't work. You get ONE shot.

Did it stop that particular large man in the video link I posted? Especially through clothing, it's an extremely common scenario that the barbs don't embed and the taser has no effect.

If someone is charging at you, a taser is the wrong tool. Period.
