He was an iconic member of these forums, and his presence will certainly be missed. RIP.
More than iconic, downright legendary.
RIP Dennil

Someone should send this thread to his bro's FB account (I don't FB) so that he/the fam will know that people appreciated Denis here too. I would think it would mean a lot to have a couple hundred more condolences.

I'll track it back down if I need to.
N41, for sure. If we can throw $$ at the lottery....I'd love to throw in on a memorial. He deserves something. Can Ottawan see how much it would take to buy a page in the paper? I bet with just enough of us we could chip in and get him something proper.

That's partly why I was staying away but the bro is getting condolences on his FB account.....granted it's in French so I'm trusting google translate.omg if this is a hoax its going to be SO EPIC....
I second this and no facebook for me either.Someone should send this thread to his bro's FB account (I don't FB) so that he/the fam will know that people appreciated Denis here too. I would think it would mean a lot to have a couple hundred more condolences.

I was extremely angry at Denis for the longest time for what I felt was his betrayal of our trust and his creepy, extended-troll dishonesty, as was the rest of the mod corps of that time, and for quite some time afterwards.
But . . . in recent years I came to see him as a gentle and highly erudite soul who might just have lived too much in his mind.
I am sad to see him pass.
Anyway, a radio interview with Denil.
RIP Denis, much enjoyment and smiles provided by this lurker.

Niki, do you still have the FB link?
Denis Fillion, paleontologist, Canada.I'd much rather make a donation toward research on whatever it was that caused his death than do any kind of newspaper page. Unfortunately we don't seem to have any info on that.
You're the best, thanks. Let's see if someone steps up.I do. I just never knew him really. I can forward a link to this thread along with a brief message but surely some of the people in this thread who either actually met him or are Facebook friends with him would be better to send it? However, if no one wants to, and people think we should, I will.

I would say that conveys my feelings towards him also. I met up with him twice while visiting Ottawa before the whole NWW thing and he was a charming, very knowledgeable fellow. I am saddened to hear of his passing.

Truly shows that life is too short. I'll never troll vc&g again...
Although I am new here, may I be so bold as to suggest he receive a custom title?
