caught the flu recently, presumably on the plane or at the airport during my return trip from visiting the ex and I am just starting to get better after having been really sick for 11 days. During that time, I lost 8 lbs (so far). Worst flu I've ever had. Definitely not covered by the vaccines I've had the last few years, this one. Like I said I'm feeling better but I am seeing my family physician on Tuesday to make sure there are no complications (pneumonia, kidney problems, etc...).
I ate my first full meal today since I got ill but I still haven't recovered my sense of taste/smell. Everything except popsicles tastes like crap so I really have to force myself to eat. However, I only have a little fever and body ache left and my strength is slowly returning. Still feel like staying in bed most of the times but I make an effort to stay up and try to drink a lot of water. The dry cough that I've experienced since day one is still there but less frequent. Still congested though. Funny thing is, I never developed a sore throat... but I discovered a new kind of 'foamy/frothy' lower body expelling which I hope to never have to go through again.
Edit: Airplane cabins are veritable petri dishes. The one thing I hate most about flying. One Indian passenger in a wheel chair was vomiting two seats from me in the waiting room at the gate. Vomiting every 3-4 minutes straight on the carpet until they brought in a garbage bin for him to puke into. There was a discussion but in the end Air Canada allowed him on board, boarding last and exiting first. Not sure if he's to blame for my flu but the thought is there.
