That is it I am putting my Geforce 1080 ti on eBay for some insane price and see if it sells. I doubt it will.

I damn near bought the Sapphire Nitro RX 64 that was in stock yesterday at Newegg for $740 and resold it.

My local Frys also had some 1070s, and RX 580s in stock last week at somewhat reasonable prices. Could resell those.

It certainly is. I am hanging in with an R9 290, and an RX 470 8GB, which can do 2560x1440 and 3840x2160 gaming to some extent. In a normal market, I'd be running a custom Vega 56. For now, though I am just hoping that my current cards survive, since there are no replacements at reasonable price levels.

If the cryptocurrency valuation continues to be at these insane levels, I simply can't see myself buying a discrete graphic card again. It's not about being able to afford the cards, but I won't pay 50-100% over MSRP. The integrated GPUs will have to do

I bought my first Titan class GPU with the Titan Xp that was released last year. If these prices continue due to mining, I may be locked into buying Titans for the next round as well. At least the Titan class GPUs haven't gone up in price and are still available.

Although looking at eBay, the prices for the Titan Xp has gone through the roof! Who on Earth would pay those kind of prices, when you can still buy it direct from the manufacturer for $1,200?!

Absolutely. There will definitely be a Titan V gamer's GPU which focuses on single precision performance. It will likely use GDDR6 rather than HBM2 as well.

The first titan was 6gb, then the second one was 12gb (maxwell). Since then we have had two other 12gb (pascal) cards. How much memory do you think they might put on a new Titan? Is it even concievable that they might put as much as 24gb of ram on the card? Or do you think they might be more conservative and increase to say 16gb of vram?

It will be 16GB of framebuffer. 24 or 32GB makes no sense for a gaming card. Even 12GB is barely being utilized right now actually.

Well all I can say is I have my Vega FE, and with some tinkering, it's shaping up to be a pretty good card overall. It's a tad noisy though. Probably more than what most people want to pay for Vega, too.

I believe 16 GB will be the new high end for the next cycle of gaming cards for the next 18 months. Until devs come out with 4K HDR texture packs, 16 GB will do fine.

Yeah, that's really it. I had listed my GTX 1070 on Ebay for $750, which is on the high end or cards that have sold, and would be a nice profit from the price I paid. I later de-listed it when I realized that I was completely uncertain as to if/when I would be able to acquire a replacement. At this point the card is actually more valuable to me than the profit I'd make.

You might be a bit overly optimistic on this. I had mine listed for three days at $750, over 100 views, but 0 watchers. That's generally a sign that people took a peek, but aren't really interested.

That being said, I'm not sure why people are selling in the $500 range. If we all decided to price gouge the miners together, we'd all be able to pull top dollar for our cards.

It would make more sense to be willing to part with a card for less if there were any replacements/upgrades available, but there are none, so any motive to sell is strictly cash profit based. The situation was different when the mining bubble only impacted AMD cards. You could sell a Radeon card to a miner, replace it with a faster GeForce card, and pocket some cash!

Well, I just found out how bad the card situation is just now.

My MSI RX 580 I bought in late November had a bad fan bearing, so I sent it back to Newegg for a replacement (replacement only policy on all of their GPUs), and they just sent me an email telling me they don't have any more, and are refunding my payment instead.

Of course I scored that for $225 then, so if I had known they were going to do that, I would have RMA'd back to MSI instead. Now if I want to replace it with anything, I really can't. And if a RX 580 comes back in stock, I'm not getting anywhere near that amount.

If it makes you feel any better, I RMA'd a card through MSI earlier last year, and they did the same thing. When they got the card I got this email:

"Dear customer,

Replacement is not available for your RMA. Would you accept below refund amount?

Please respond via email within 3-5 business days. If no response then, we will go ahead and process at our own discretion. Check processing takes 4 weeks."

With a chart below that showing my RX580 and a $188 price. I said no, I paid MORE than that for it, it was only a few months old, and if I wanted a new one it would be nearly $300 (mind you this was earlier last year before the craze drove prices even higher). Finally they said they could give me my purchase price - but not enough to buy a new one at the time. (Then they took 5 weeks, not 4, to mail the check to me).

So, even if you sent into MSI, they would have told you they don't repair them, don't have parts, and done the same as Newegg with a refund of the purchase price.

Man what a bizarre time PCs are going through right now. Very nearly parted out my 1070s, but decided to keep them to do some rendering in Blender; now I’m glad I did.
I really hope things get back to normal...
