"Wilson
Brother/Cousin"

So his parents are brother and sister? That is the only way I could see him being both brother and cousin.

Seems like you need to go over my knee for a good spanking. You'll be outraged, but ultimately respect me more for it.

Where's my stout wooden spoon?

I enjoy a man who is strong enough to handle a woman who can channel, but I am not going to tell him that. I am going to be bossy and an outright bitch. I'm going to hold my feelings inside and let you be confused.
I'm not going to tell you anything and get mad when you don't know.

Please tell me Jordan didn't actually write like that. I was thinking about picking up his series after finishing Erikson's.

Honestly, if you read the first 4 you'll be so hooked you'll slog through the next 6. It was 100x worse waiting 3 years for a book, THEN having to read through a bunch of crap you didn't care about or that you'd already read a dozen times before.

re Erikson: I bought 1-5, figure if I read one every 4 months book 10 should come out shortly after I finish 9. Now this is a man with a plan and a publishing schedule I can get behind.

oh, and blood and bloody ashes Egwenainavelaine!

You can always order 6-7 from Amazon UK like I did

The Bonehunters (6) was even more ridiculously awesome than the first 5 (which is saying a lot, even though I wasn't that partial towards Midnight Tides).

I can't believe I have to wait 7 months for Toll the Hounds (Book 8).

Well if I can wait for George RR Martin (please don't die George), than I can wait a lousy 8 months for Erikson.

Well I am most certainly not going to learn from past blowups in order to better understand women. I plan go plod blindly forward however the hell I want to until an old woman with nothing to contribute to my life or goals starts bossing me around in an attempt to make me and this other dead dude in my head somehow more human, at which point I will grind my teeth and quietly do whatever she tells me to do. And I will be polite about it. Oh, and my arms have ropes of corded muscle from years of blacksmithing/farm working/horse currying/rope skipping/chicken choking/ETC.

I have read the books were only supposed to be a trilogy.
Then something happened. Err...whats the word for it...ummm
Oh yeah, Greed. Jordan got us hooked on a great story, knew it, and squeezed every last dime.
There is a reason why all of his books were NYT bestsellers, and it's not because they were good.
He was a great writer, but I guess he had some gambling debt or something.

I will have to admit that I made only made it through maybe 6 of the books. After that, I just got bored with the whole thing and moved on. It has been a few years though, so maybe I should start reading them again.....

the first 4 books are great. after that it takes a 100 pages for anyone to do anyting it gets lame.

the last few were so boreing and drawn out it was a waste. it ruined a great series.

a few of the last books could be condensed into one or two and not really lose much.

And we Aiel are a hardy desert folk, nomadic in nature with strong tribal ties, a holy reverance for moisture, superior fighting skills, in greater numbers than wetlanders believe, and are waiting for Mua'dib to return.

Maybe you can answer this question, Z. Why the fsck is Rand still batshit insane? He cleansed the male half of he source. He shouldn't be nuts anymore. I don't see how this is going to be explained away all in one book , but maybe I'm forgetting something. I started reading this series in early high school and I've only read it through twice, so I've forgotten a ton of the story.

Thats from Dune. He is the Car'a'carn to the aiel. You ruined it. Thanks alot!!!
Then again you might be making fun of the fact that the aiel were stolen from Dune...lol.
He did borrow a number of ideas.

B/c the voice in his head isn't a remnant of the taint, it really is LTT.

But, like everyone else in this bass ackwards world of ours, when he does return we'll ignore him and call him a fraud and let ourselves be duped into following some big-boobed chick (which one, they're everywhere) with lots of rings into war with the wetlanders. No proof will be enough, because unlike everyone else, WE know what we're doing.

edit: jonk, I figured that was it, but why has this NEVER been addressed? And if the taint is gone shouldn't LTT be sane again and be able to have a decent albiet weird dialog with Rand? Maybe they could actually work together and Rand could do something competent on purpose for once rather than flailing around with inestimable power that somehow magically does the right thing despite his impressive ignorance.

*spoilers***************

Imagine stepping into a fire. You are going to get burned. Imagine someone putting that fire out. You still have your burns, but you are no longer being burned.

Rand touched the tainted source. It was slowly driving him mad. Just because the source was cleansed does not mean he is fixed. He just is not going any further.
On top of that he has quite a bit of stress being the Dragon and all.

The whole Lews Therin in his head thing I have no idea about. I think he was real. I hope everything comes together in the end.
