Guess thats my point really. Kids back then known how to play with toys and make them last. When my mother was a kid she did not have much toys at all. She her dad was in the war at that time.

I had one and dropped it on my foot and it cut off my big toe nail. Didn't stop me from playing with it, but sure did keep me from dropping it on my foot again. A very good lesson to learn when your 4.

Sadly, these days the lesson learned is entirely different: That whenever something even remotely bad happens, someone is entitled to a large sum of money.

Hell, even 20 years ago we could buy BB guns when we were under the age of 10, knives, firecrackers, tonka trucks, ect.

You hurt yourself you learned not to do it again. Be careful with knives, they are sharp. Be careful with BB guns, you'll shoot your eye out. Be careful with 10 pound metal toys, they hurt when you drop them. Firecrackers blow sh!t up...don't get caught with one in your hand when it goes off. Ect.

video games taught me that when things get to hard turn on the cheats and you can always hit reset when things go bad.

This is pathetic. I don't really remember playing with any Tonka trucks or steel toys... but I'm told that I did, and the remnants of them prove it. Last I checked, I'm still alive, and not missing any vital organs. Oh, and I was unsupervised greater than 75% of the time, I'm sure (assuming that my supervision was similar to that of my younger sister and brother, who also played with said toys, and who also were not irreparably hurt by said toys).
