VERY occasionally Chrome won't work properly with "secure" sites and I'll have to use Firefox BUT quite frankly Chrome works pretty much effortlessly with 99.9% of everything which is why people are willing to put up with the utter lack of privacy-protection it provides.

Note that Firefox has issues with many more websites/apps overall then Chrome or Brave. (and Brave IS just another Chrome browser now FYI similar to Opera)

Nobody like to hear this because it's "fashionable" to hate on Microsoft but about the most secure version of a "fully capable" Chrome browser would be properly configured Edge.

I very rarely encounter issues with sites having Firefox as my primary browser. Then I use Edge, because Chrome sucks.

because Chrome BEING SPYWARE sucks

Fixed.

Again Chrome works perfectly with 99.9% of the internet IME. (especially for the lazy w/auto-login)

If Chrome "sucked" functionally nearly every web browser wouldn't be based on it.

I'm just basing it on my experience using Chrome 🤷‍♀️
I had to use all the browsers for a number of years to make sure our site worked properly, and Chrome has always been terrible. Firefox had a little bit of a rough period too. And obviously IE was pretty bad up until IE10 or so.

Thing that's changed is that now the vast majority of the internet is designed with Chrome in mind. (since that's what the vast majority of folks use as "default" now)

I use Chrome, Firefox and (occasionally) Edge personally depending on what I'm doing.

Haven't used Chrome is years now. I switched to Brave years ago and haven't looked back.

Brave uses Chrome as a base now too. (skinned & slightly modified)

I tried it and failed to see what the big deal was.

I do find it anoying that everything seems to be based on Chrome and people seem to forget that other browsers like Firefox exit. Chrome is kind of odd, it just came out of nowhere years ago when Firefox was actually more popular and for whatever reason it just took over. Given it's a google product it's not exactly something I want to use if I care about privacy. I suppose browsers like Brave strip out all the Google stuff though kind of like how custom phone roms strip out the google stuff from Android. At least I would hope. I do have Chromium installed which I only use if I want to test whether or not a site issue is my browser or not. It's a base install with no extensions and I never use it except to test stuff. On phone I use Lightning Browser, I couldn't find Firefox on my custom rom's store. At one point Firefox did do a mobile update that completely botched usability, not sure if it's better now.

Firefox doesn't work as well on some sites cause it's either maliciously downgraded(google), or the site's devs are too lazy to ensure compatibility. I'm sure a browser monopoly will work fine this time though...

Mobile I tried all kinds of stuff .... finally I just threw up my hands and surrendered. (sorry)

On a modern Android phone the deck is stacked heavily in Chromes favor. PC I use Firefox whenever possible.

Desktop is 100% firefox. Android is 99% firefox, with various other browsers using the webview backend, but none are chrome.

Unfortunately the manipulation to make Chrome substantially more convenient on an Android phone is extremely obvious. (at the expense of privacy)

The "compromise" I make is that I use a browser-tab whenever possible instead of "installing the app" lol .... and any app I don't use for a few weeks (max) I uninstall.

Android 13 automatically removes "sensitive" permissions from unused apps but I don't fully trust it.

Don't get me wrong.... nothing terrible about Brave specifically if that's what you prefer. (and yes, it's a "Chromium-based" browser)

Nothing really special anymore either though. (same with Opera... which was MY fav at one point)

I find Firefox video playback quality to be inferior most of the time or I would use it more. (it HAS improved!)

Meh. If someone cant be arsed to serve their content properly I'll not watch it or find somewhere else that serves it properly.

well I use Brave to watch video on Youtube sans ads.
I'm not a big youtube user TBH. I do find that if I go there Firefox with the right adblockers seems to work for me, but like I said I try not to spend too much time there!

I used to like chrome when it first came out, but now I am all firefox. And I get annoyed when sites want me to open them on the app on the phone. That is dumb. I just want to browse, not install a bunch of apps for every site.

As for youtube, I don't like how they are always trying to suggest videos and do auto play, but then I don't watch youtube that often. I do have my own channel though, with a few game play videos. Yes there is Doom.

Yeah, if something seems off, don't go for it. I'm sure I get bunches of weird suggestions I wouldn't like, some that I'd hate even. I don't hang out at YT. I just go sometimes. I like it in these forums a lot more (very interactive), but the functionality here is very limited, of course. One of the best features here is that you can link most anything. I also love that the moderators really like it here and many if not most are fellow posters, they aren't standoffish.
I dont "hang" out at YT either, but i'm often listening to stuff in my vehicle, from car reviews to DIY for miscellaneous stuff. Much easier to listen than to read forums while driving, lol.

So... Prime Video, Netflix (especially) and Youtube among others?

All are "noisier" in Firefox to my eye.

I wonder if/when manifest V3 will start affecting the chromium forks?
Huh, shocking that Google wants to cripple ad blockers. I’m using Chrome, Firefox and Vivaldi (Chromium fork). Without uBlock - I’ll have to setup a PI-hole.

Adblock Plus here but otherwise same (except I bailed on Vivaldi) ... that move could make me eliminate Chrome.
