Enjoyed Risen, not perfect but I played it all the way through and had some fun with the game. This is the true Gothic 4 for anyone paying attention, however it has a smaller feeling than a traditional Gothic game.
How's the storyline? Is it pretty deep and engaging? Are there interesting characters, locations, etc? In the description, it says "Delve into a gritty, raw and atmospheric fantasy world in which every action has a consequence." If it's anything like The Witcher then I'm definitely interested for $6.
I felt the whole thing was kind of "Gothic lite". Everything seemed dialed down a bit from the original Gothic games, surely to appeal to a broader spectrum of gamers (consolers).
The story is pretty standard stuff - you're a nameless stowaway who gets washed up on an island where three factions are battling it out. I thought the characters and locations were more than interesting enough to keep me going. If you like RPGs I'm sure you'll like this.
My only playthrough was as a melee, and I thought the combat was fun and challenging. Every skill point you spend in a discipline give you a new combat option to use.
