Since I've been following CDRs, a couple years now, CMC is regarded as the crappiest, Ritek are regarded as pretty good. But you're right, the Japanese CDRs (TYs) are still the best.

The store clerk is ignorant. They are supposed to give you $10 instant rebate and you file for $20 Ridata substitution rebate on easierrebate.com.

Most people has the Ridata, my store didn't have the Imation so everyone got the Ridata and they charged us $20.

I would go back into the store and get the $10 back, it's highly unlikely that you will get $30 instead of $20.

Better go back.

While you are at OMax, Imation 50-packs are $4.99 AR (not as good quality as Ritek, I realize) and don't forget the DVD-R 50-packs at $9.99 AR.

exactly what i was thinking. i heard ritek was along generic's quality (well maybe a bit better) last i heard so i never touch their cdrs anymore. but i do get their dvd-rs.

Yes, I had always heard the same thing. But over at cdrfreaks.com forums I saw plenty of posts in the last few months saying how ritek has got their act together. It seems to be true - the ridata disks I have are much better than CMC magnetics. Not quite as good as TY though, IMO. But for FAR, pretty good,

What the heck!?!? I recieved an e-mail today from OfficeMax, stating that "Ridata CD-RW 4X 100-Pack Spindle We?re sorry the UPC you submitted for this product is incorrect. "

Of course the UPC was invalid, as I didn't check the stupid CD-RW on my rebate form, I checked the CD-R. I triple checked it because the form was confusing and I'm 100% sure I sent it in as the Ridata CD-R 48x 100-Pack spindle, not the CD-RW.

Anyone know what I can do about this? No big deal, but it's $20 I didn't want to spend. Blah!

Good luck. OfficeMax pulled the same stunt on me about a year ago. I resibmitted with very clear photocopies showing they were dead wrong-several times. Resubmissions, phone calls, multiple letters, etc. did absolutely no good-they eventually wore me out with their crappy customer service. I ended up pulling my firm's business (not to mention my own, obviously) from OM as a direct response to this incident. Staples now has the customer OM used to.

Same thing happened to a friend of mine. They said he bought the CDRWs instead of the CDRs. He replied to the rejection email stating this and left a message with his gripe. He said the phone call was a sea of automation. Also note that the Ridata discs were a substitution so that may be throwing them off too.

I got an email saying mine is approved, at least I think so, I'll have to double check. I filled out the online form, how about you?

What do you think would happen if I disputed the charges on my CC? I am outraged and I know there's probably nothing I can do about it. So, it's only $20, but still, that's a large enough chunk of change to piss me off.

Good idea!

I'm in the same boat; so I'll try this, too. Just be sure to pay your CC bill including that amount so your CC provider won't hit you with finance charge if they end up ruling against you.

Can anyone (whose Ridata CD-R 100pk rebate was fulfilled) provide the UPC code on the UPC they submitted? I want to confirm I sent in the same UPC.

I also had the "invalid UPC" problem with this rebate, and I had to call them to straighten it out. I told the CSR that the status page listed it as CD-RW and not CD-Rs, and he said that was the problem and validated it for me. Lots of people on FW have also had this problem.

To get to a CSR, you need to push 3 and then 3 again on your phone. This isn't listed as one of the options in the phone menu, but it should work.

Looks like a lot of people are getting rejected on OMax Ridata CD-R 100 pack $20 rebate.
Check your status here Link
If problems try calling 1-866-703-0534, stay on the line and don't push any buttons, after a minute someone will come on. Tell them it's an OfficeMax rebate and transfer you to right dept. Recite your UPC code for them and they will aprove it (UPC is 8-46122-00025-8)
