I used another brand on my toshiba stand alone player. I can't remember what that brand was, but it didn't work. I figured the player just didn't support DVD-R because it is 3 years old. I looked up on dvdrhelp.com, that the drive does support DVD-R for some people. I tried one of my Ritek G03...BINGO. It's good stuff that is compatible with almost anything that will support DVD-R. Too bad it's only 2x. I would love to find a deal on 4x ritek, and hope the new 8x drives can be updated later to write at 8x on those.

I think Ritek makes the best price/quality/performance media for the $$$. I personally use Ritek G03s because they are the same quality as the G04s, etc. but cheaper - and I only burn at 1X for compatibility anyway (I have two Pioneer A04/104s).

The G03's are supposed to be really good. I've never used them, but have heard alot of good things on dvdrhelp.com

I usually get G04. Anyone try the BeAll brand? Supposed to be better than ritek, though everyone says ritek is the best.

I'm in agreement with you, except that I burn them at 2x in my Sony 500A. I have had pretty consistent experience with Ritek.

I tried it and had compatability problems on stand-alone DVD players. Switched to Ritek and have burned over 200 with perfect compatibility.
