Oh well.

Compared to a lot of the world, middle class in the US is pretty damned luxurious, even with the pressures to erode away its standard of living.

I have electricity, and it works for most of the year, except for maybe 1-2hrs total.
I have access to an immense supply of water, and it is quite sure to be free of dangerous contaminants or contagions.
I've got a new car, reasonably fast Internet, and a 2BR apartment all to myself.

It's actually not that they have tons of money and are completely useless, it's that because they're rich, they have incredible political power to get the government to benefit them. That is why they pay very little taxes on their inheritance and also on the money they make on the return on their investments off their inheritance.

For example, now that Mitt Romney isn't working, he pays an effective tax rate of 14% (for comparison, i had an effective tax rate of 25% and i work my ass off). There are rumors that he paid even less, or even no taxes in some years. When Romney passes that inheritance onto his children/grandchildren, they will never have to work again in their lifetime and they will pay very little in taxes. All while you bust your ass and pay a higher tax rate.
It's the fourth branch of government, and it easily overrides the others.

Why the hell should they have to help aids kids in Africa? That sounds like the kind of cockamamey thing a Liberal trying to spread the wealth to people not worth helping would do. If they have AIDS they aren't going to live long anyway. Even if they didn't, why spend the money if they'd kill each other in gang violence/civil wars anyway? At least these future Job Creators in the making are stimulating the economy and helping America.

Throwing money into "helping" Africa is only going to end up into kleptocracies, and what ever little that is left makes the populace dependent on such aid, worsening the problem. Dumb liberals think they just spread the wealth around to the undeserving and magically make the world a better place.

I hate them for being rich and I know they think I am scum for being poor. But if I was rich I wouldn't complain and i'd probably think you are all scum for being poor.

To be fair, the masses will always have much more political clout than the rich just from sheer numbers, however, the biggest problem is that this grouping is incredibly diverse in its interests without enough groups to represent and empower those same interests into a unified voting block and probably due to apathy to the political process.

I fully agree that if wealth disparity in this country steadily becomes more disparate over time, that there will probably be true class warfare. But as of now, the rich haven't hit nobility status but the middle and lower class are disorganized and seemingly uninterested in using their numerical clout to push for issues that concern them. I would say the Tea Party was an incredible example of a situation (and I know you disagree with their stances) of the power of the organized masses, even if the movement was bankrolled by rich people. You used Buffet and Gates as examples of wealthy role models, well, they could use their money in the same way that the Koch brothers have used their money. Want the US to catch up to other countries in education? Use that money to affect the political scheme on top of funding educational programs. Think the tax rate is too low for billionaires Buffet? Use your money to organize the people to change that.

Just my 2 cents.

You have to be a fucking moron of epic proportions to believe it's ok for a working stiff to pay higher tax rates than these scumbags. Sorry for caring about the country and being concerned about people with your level of ignorance dragging down everyone else.

The class warfare is playing right out here on AT.

As the 1% flaunt more and more everyday the 99% are getting just as more pissed off everyday.

The receipt is in euros, there's a separate article I read on that

Some of the pics doesn't mean much like the big bedrooms and the pool parties... what else are you going to do with a mansion that's been paid for by your parents?

Jesus Christ, do you fucking ATOT posters even fucking read? This has nothing to do with 'how much they make versus how much we make', this is how much we're getting taxed versus how much they're getting taxed. And also the disproportionate political influence they have.

besides you being the problem...these kids probably don't work which means their income is on the relatively low scale of things so their tax on that income is what, that's right boys and girls pretty low.

You don't mind working your ass off and paying higher tax rates than a trust fund kid who makes a shitload more money than you doing nothing?

YOU ARE THE PROBLEM

The republican party is going to destroy this country.

Historically, nations & empires fall apart as the population "on the dole" (receiving substantial government assistance and not paying any taxes) rises above 50%. If you don't have any skin in the game, you will vote for whoever promises you a larger share of the redistribution of wealth, and that person will win. Once we reach this point, we will be on the verge of socialism and communism, and the economy and society will lose all drive to be productive.

That being said, the rich tend to get richer and keep their money... so, an approach that make sense to me is to moderately increase taxes on the rich, and increase estate taxes, and use that money to fund the hell out of education. Stop giving handouts to the poor, and create opportunities for everyone to get an excellent education, and go on to get a good job to support themselves. I realize this is an ideal vision, but simply redistributing wealth from the rich to the poor by increasing taxes on the rich isn't going to fix this country.

As I make more money, I get taxed at higher percentage. Context matters.

Yes, but you are a working schlup, like most of the rest of us. If you had investments in the stock market that you bought and held, they would get taxed as long term capital gains at a lower percentage than if they were ordinary income. The capital gains tax is a sweet deal...

Do you know what trust funds and inheritance is? Or are you being intentionally daft?

Unless their parents follow the paths of bill gates and warren buffet, all the money will pass onto them and they will pay ludicrously low capital gains taxes and play games with offshore havens and pay next to nothing.

Trying to be cute by posting worthless one word comebacks doesn't actually negate the fact that you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

But since we're going there, i found a picture of you being held by Tebow:
