Got a brand new BFG 5900NU in today, for my daughters SFF (my 2nd game machine), and its not working correctly. She has a Biostar 200V SFF, and I get graphical errors booting up, and in Windows, then anything 3D (3dmark or games) the monitor just goes black, but the green light stays on like it has a signal. I tried to set it to AGP 4x in the bios, and turn on fastwrites. Same thing. So I thought perhaps its the PSU not being strong enough to push it, and move the card over to my main machine. However, my 9800XT works fine in her PC.

It has the same effect, plus another on my main machine. The DVI doesnt work for my LCD with it. I have a CRT on the SFF so that wasnt an option to try. I know my PSU is good enough on this PC. The molex was plugged in, and double checked. Its all the way in the AGP slot, and screwed in tight. It just will not do anything 3D, and I have those graphical errors.

Im on the 53.03 drivers, and have tried two other sets to make sure it wasnt just the drivers. I didnt think it was, because it does it before it gets into Windows.

Im 98% sure its the card. Just seeing if any other BFG 5900NU users have had the same problem, and perhaps found whats wrong, before I labor thru their tech supports. Im pretty sure its RMA time already.

Newegg no longer carries the card either.

I had a friend by a leadtek nforce2 board from gameVE, he got it in another motherboard box, no padding, nothing but the driver disk, a cable, and the antistatic bag. I was like woah! and I looked at the invoice and sure enough it says "retail Leadtek k7dninofn " or whatever, and yes it has died, and no they won't replace it but leadtek will... it makes me wonder if gameVE is the one selling the refurbished products as new... I mean where did the box go afterall. And his invoice anyway had very little info on how to contact them, no email, just a thing saying value express which if you look up on google you don't find gameVE...

Yep yep yep, same exact thing here.

1. Got the card Thursday last week, plugged it in, vertical bars.

2. Call up BFG they say take it up with GameVE.com, AND they specifically say they will only send me a refurbished card if I claimed a RMA.

3. Go to the GameVE.com site to do an Advance RMA on Saturday night, and didn't expect to receive anything for a while.

4. Fastfoward to Today (Wednesday) FedEX...I was frigging happy as hell.

5. Plugged the card in, vertical bars. (it was obvious this card was not new, it was missing the plastic cover over the heatsink)

6. Call up BFG again, they tell me to fax over the sales receipt. I fax them the sales receipt. --- The guy on the phone says they are calling their factory TOMORROW to have them ship me a NEW card. They are forgoing the normal Advance RMA procedures, and didn't even give me a RMA number or a place to ship to. I'm thinking they caught wind of whats happening.

7. waiting...again

*oh ya side note, I'm Asian so GameVE.com (ran and operated by Asians) might look a hell lot more favorably on me then most other people, hence me getting a Advance RMA from GameVE.com INSTANTLY. Not favorably enough I guess, since I still got screwed...twice.

Mine was from shrinkwrapped retail box but didn't have plastic cover over the heatsink. Is it supposed to have this? If yes then GameVE must be shrinkwrapping returns and selling it as NEW. Real classy operation here. :disgust:

ya it should, remember I got two cards from these jokers, one had the covering and one didn't. Both cards LOOKED new, but its easy to reshrinkwrap things...

either that or BFG messed up a HUGE batch

Looks like I got lucky.
I ordered mine from GameVE.

Like everybody else, mine was poorly packed, retail box in a fed ex box with no extra packing.

But my card works fine, no bars.

The manufacture date on my card is 01/2003 though, but CoD was in the box.

Check out the reseller ratings on these crooks:ratings Does it look like the same person perhaps is putting in a short favorable response between the negative ones? All the positive ones sound the same (employee?). Spread the word on these jokers. I really want one of these cards but I don't see a reputable reseller with a good price on it. Anyone have a recommendation?

2-3 months ago the big scam they were pulling was shipping out the low end 9800 SE cards as the higher end ones. I think the low end ones had 128 bit memory while the higher ones had 256bit.

GameVE BFG5900 works fine here. Packed in a fedex box with the tshirt. No shrinkwrap though on the BFG box. It was a retail box order. No CoD CD. Upgraded from BFGTi4200. BFG seems like a good brand.
