I freely admit I did not watch one second of the RNC. Therefore I have stayed out of any of those threads. Genesys, did you ACTUALLY watch the DNC or are you just blowing smoke?

I am more concerned with the candidates? plans for protecting America's future than what they were both doing in the late 60"s. It didn't matter to the people about Bill Clinton's past military record, but only what he was planning for the future. He got elected, remember. The people will elect a president based on how they feel those candidate respects their wishes. No candidate represents my wishes 100%. I must find out which one best represents my core values. He gets my vote.

I watched both conventions. The DNC had much less enthusiasm as the RNC. Both pointed out the opposition?s weaknesses. I do believe the RNC did a better job of explaining where we are and where will be going. The DNC made better promises concerning providing the people more social benefits, while the RNC made promises about protecting us and allowing the economy to grow without government intervention.

I only hope that most voters research these candidates on their records while public servants. What they did in collage or during Viet Nam does not reflect what they do now. I am greatly concerned about how both parties are getting voters registered. Never underestimate the power of the ignorant. If they don't know how to get informed about the candidate and issues they can be as dangerous as giving a loaded gun to someone that don't know how to handle it. They only know how to pull the trigger.

Just a note, the requirement that you be born in the US may change. People on both sides of the isle want to change it. The democrats have a rising start in Michigan governor (Jennifer Granholm) who was born in Canada, but resides in the US for most of her life; etc. So, several senators (both sides) have proposed an amendment saying that "if you are a united states citizen with more then 25 years living within the US, you may run for any office" or so on. Because both parties look and see people in their parties who are immigrants, etc. and big political figures, and lots of democrats believe Granholm could be a big-time candidate if given the chance later.

Well, if we get rid of that requirement, we need to get rid of the electoral college as well. Might as well.

I hope so. I realize the need for the natural-born restriction at one time, but I think that time has now passed. I don't think we are in too much danger of an immigrant president subversively promoting his homeland.
