The weather shortened convention ends today with Mccain speech. I was wondering why all the heavy hitters went last night just leaving mccain for today but remembered this morning that it's due to the nfl season starting (the nfl even agreed to start the game early tonight to allow the mccain speech to start after the game is over in the 10oclock hour).

All the problems the GOP addressed are, and dare we not forget, problems THEY created.
Want a list???
High gas prices: NO ENERGY POLICY LAST 4 YEARS
Poor government: BUSH APPOINTED CRONIES
Troops in harms way: THE GW BUSH WAR
Poor economy: TAX CUTS FOR THE TOP 1%
(and the list goes on and on)

THAT?S why I call the 2008 GOP the delusional party

And I love how they chant DRILL ? DRILL ? DRILL

What are they going to chant when the oil runs out OH SH*T ? OH SH*T - OH SH*T

Moveon or dailykos? Just curious cause whichever one you got those from, I'd strongly recommend you switch to the other. That list is so pathetically easy to dismantle that I think you're not getting the true punchbowl worth of material you deserve.

I was disappointed in the lack of actual solution talk. Saying Washington is liberal or that Obama is this or that is not telling me the voter how the GOP is planning to fix all the problems we have. What do you think?

I'll be doing it

but McCain doesn't really talk about being a POW that much, imo. it's more the surrogates and whatnot.

reportedly, his speech tonight will be mostly policy stuff. I'm really hoping that he will try and use his speech to distance himself from Bush and maybe attack what the republican party did the last time we had a single-party rule in Washington to remind voters of what we'll be getting with Obama in the white house and pelosi/ried with increased margins in congress.

McCain will lash out with a new policy on everything with only 60 days near to the election and he'll act like its not a political move.

Because if McCain is good at anything, its Pandering.

Yesterday it pissed of me off though with Rudy talking about "They" in one sentence, then "Obama" the next. It made it seem as though every point he made was about him... like the discussion about Palins daughters: "They say this about her kids, that is wrong!".... While Obama never said a damn word on the issue, but the media did and so instead of Rudi saying "The media are evil" he used the word "they"... thus trying to mislead the American people into thinking Obama is sexist and ignorant... This whole 'misleading' thing sounds really firmiliar towards the last few years.

I'm curious why they scheduled the heavy hitters for day two, and will uneventfully end their convention with a speech by McSame?

Is the green background going to make a return?

How much makeup will Sidney be wearing to hide the fact that he's f***stick old?

Who else is playing the "My friends..." drinking game? Make sure you have a DD.

Guesses on ratings for tonight? I think it will tie, or even be slightly lower than last night's ratings.

Attacks on media? Check. Attacks on gender bias? Check. BO is a community organizer? Check. No real discussion on the issues, just pandering to a GOP base that mathematically can't get him elected? Check.

And how many solutions were presented in last weeks affair?

1. Simplification of Tax Code
2. Ending Tax Breaks for Big Oil
3. Trimming the Budget
4. Investing in energy resources like natural gas
5. Cutting Taxes for me and a lot of other Americans
6. Putting more troops in Afghanistan
7. Actually capturing/killing Osama Bin Laden

I can't name that many points that the GOP mentioned, can you?

It's good to see you didn't read the other post in the thread, as if we didn't know that.

Wow, what an impressive list. All things that either the current administration is doing or that the rnc nominee has already put out as campaign points. Nice to see you jump onboard.

Palin stroked the conservative Base

McCain has to light a fire and burn it down. McCain has to put distance between him and GWB tonight.

Its time for McCain to talk about some "change"

it should be interesting.

But what specific points were addressed at the RNC? I am not talking about Campaign points, I am talking about substantive points mentioned during the RNC. What were they? Nice of you to dodge the question.

You mean like besides most of those items you already listed that the BHO cmapign has been trying to clamp onto when the mccain campaign took the lead in those areas.

How many did the DNC have on day two? 18.5 million

How many did the RNC have on day two in 2004? 14.8 million

Enthusiasm gap?

More than 37.2 million people tuned in for coverage of the third night of the 2008 Republican National Convention, which featured Sarah Palin?s much anticipated national debut.

Hey now, I'm just a colour-blind amateur using Photoshop 5.0. Don't ask for the moon.

Still, I'm pretty sure we could make a drinking game tonight for each time he'll use his POWer.

Douglas Rushkoff on the RNC:

"I felt a bit nauseous watching the Republican convention last night. I'm very much a give-the-benefit-of-the-doubt kind of guy, so I try to listen to the arguments people make even when they're made in over-the-top or patronizing ways. Sometimes it's good to distinguish between the rhetorical devices and the underlying substance. Even people who use manipulative language sometimes have an important point beneath their persuasion techniques (ads against smoking, for example).

I usually don't feel uneasy when I put those filters on, but last night - during the Guiliani speech - I realized I was no longer filtering a speechwriter's intentional manipulation; I was trying to look beyond real hate. These folks were gritting their teeth, shaking their fists, and smiling the way gladiators do when going into combat against barbarians. And this is the incumbent party. The ones currently in power.

What is it they hate? Guiliani and Palin both made it pretty clear: community organizing. Community organizing is energized from below. From the periphery. It is the direction and facilitation of mass energy towards productive and cooperative ends. It is about replacing conflict with collaboration. It is the opposite of war; it is peace.

Last night, the Republican Convention made it clear they prefer war. They see the world as a dangerous and terrible place. Like the fascist leaders satirized in Starship Troopers, they say they believe it is better to be on the offensive, taking the war to the people who might wish us harm than playing defense. It is better to be an international aggressor - a bulldog with lipstick - than led by the misguided notion that attacking people itself makes the world a more dangerous place."

Ok, this is the last time I respond to you.

What are the points made by the RNC so far that address our nation's needs. You keep dodging the damn question, and I think its making you look pretty stupid.
