Just a guess, but 7 years seems better than never.

McCain could say something like "I made the most nonsense pick for VP who isn't allowed to speak off the script and you guys love her" and they would go crazy.

2-4 years for ANWR as it is already plotted.

5-7 years for off-shore.

Instead of drilling for more oil, shouldn't we get the ball rolling on alternative sources of energy or do they plan on doing that while we wait for the oil.

McCain says no to drilling in ANWR. He specifically said "drill offshore" tonight.

Of course not. And he didn't mention that either.

You have a hydrogen fuel cell ready for mass production tomorrow or alternatives for the billions of regular day items that are made with some form of a petroleum product?

Whatever happened to conservation? When I'm running low on cash, I budget better -- I don't open a new line of credit.

We need more fuel efficient cars and better public transportation in some cities. Bring on more hybrids. Bring us more diesel-powered vehicles. CONSERVE.

Yeah - let's not look to the future!

But, many of the average, uninformed people think prices will fall immediately if we start drilling now. It's a fallacy the Republicans are helping along.

They want to do both like any sane person. McCain/Palin have the only complete energy policy.

Palin believes in it, so I imagine he'll end up changing his stance. I'm sure she knows significantly more about it than he does.

"change is coming"?

do they, um, remember that the Republicans already have the White House and have driven this country into the ground?

You mean like how he said we needed better ways to fuel our transportation network.

I love how their new idea is that in order to vote for change you can vote in the same people that have been running things for close to the last decade.

Bad move McCain. If people want change, they are going to vote for Obama, not you. If people want a president who is good at crashing airplanes into power lines they will vote for you.

The (R)'s and the oil companies are doing more than 'helping it along'.

No - tonight's. Last night's were posted in last night's thread pretty quickly

Of course, they were absolutely incorrect...

Reagan's America- where greed was good, and the Taliban and AlQaeda were the Mujahedin, freedom fighters... not to mention the "Salvador option" being played out in blood, the contras being funded illegally, and the AIDS epidemic ignored, ridiculed...

Yeh, the good old days...

someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought McCain's approach was invest in alternative energy and encourage conservation for the long-term, and open up drilling because there's no replacement for oil on the immediate future and even if we do develop one, oil will probably still be needed for things.
