The story about the gay strip club probably hasn't broke, yet. I wouldn't doubt it if the Republicans patronized gay strip clubs, too.

Funny thing is the paper this morning said this club was gay, Lesbian Themed.

Guess gay females are ok but not men. Damm sexist republicans, well some of them. :awe:

The staffer was trying to get his donors stiffer.

It was reported that he did get fired.

Well duh, they need to throw someone to the lions.

DNC probable do the same thing and RNC has done it in the past. You take people with money where ever they need to go to get them to give it up. BUT they are usually smart enough to not claim it on a open Doc. :awe:

Why does it surprise people that males (of all ideologies) like to see naked women?

I can't say I'm surprised at this news, though I am very disappointed (once again) at the Republicans poor judgement. If this is what the party's become, I want no part of either. But either way, I'll reiterate my call for the GOP to backburner all the social issues -- play lipservice to whoever you need to, but backburner the stuff! Focus solely on economic issues and limited govt and they will have a winning hand. Because when stuff like this comes out, everyone plays the hypocrisy card and it's a big distraction.

Hahahha... That has been one of the biggest issues on the back burner for the longest time. Republicans like to talk smaller Gov and spending but since Regean on forward they have been just as big if not bigger in some cases then Dems's.

Well, DUH!

A strip club is one way to get their wallets out, and that's half the battle for political contributions.

So Republicans will forget about their religious and moral convictions to get money? Nice to see you admit that!

they're not spending public money, are they?

seems like it'd be a simple enough solution to stop donating to them if you don't like how they're spending their money.

Is it government $$?

Those $$ are getting into the local economy and are not being targetted as unneeded pork.

That two grand will probably cost the GOP two million or more in donations that will not be made.

I think most people think like me-I expect any charity, church or other organization I donate to be "lean and mean" in its operations. My money is not easy to come by and I'm certainly not going to give it away so some unknown third party can live high and wild.

Summary-an absolute public relations nightmare for the GOP, no matter how you cut it.

I agree with this on the main, but I would point out that "wining and dining" is part of the political fundraising process. If I was a contributor to the RNC, I would not object to "luxory" spending per se, IF that spending actually brought more in donations to the cause I support. The specific problem here, however, is money being spent on a strip club by a conservative political party which caters to a socially conservative base. That's what makes it a problem for them with their donors.

Well, didn't a study reveal that the Bible belt states were the biggest consumers of porn? If so, maybe its not too bad.

So Republicans will forget about their religious and moral convictions to get money? Nice to see you admit that!

No politician above the local level (perhaps US Representative) can afford luxuries like religious and moral convictions. A staunch conservative in a staunchly conservative district within a more liberal state will immediately adopt more liberal views when running for state-wide office, his own justification probably being that unless elected he can't do all the wonderful things he plans on doing. Eventually the justification becomes either ingrained and automatic, or moot. Witness Romney and Huckabee (both of whom I admire) moving from very moderate positions in Massachusetts and Arkansas to much more conservative views when running for the Republican presidential nomination. Or Algore, whose views (though not actions) went from staunchly conservative as a Tennessee Senator to firmly liberal as a Democratic candidate. Or Kristen Gillibrand, a good Reagan Democrat as a Representative but who immediately adopted more "nuanced" (read: liberal) positions when appointed to be a Senator.

This is a function of politicians, but also a function of us. We of course want to be represented by those who share our beliefs and values, we don't keep up with what they actually do, and we have very short attention spans. This is also why third parties get no traction - if a position begins to attract significant support, one or both parties will immediately begin to profess it.

LMAO, spoken like a true "compassionate conservative". No new taxes, no public funds for abortions, etc., etc. and all that jazz.

Oh, while you running around trying to cover your dumb ass statement this was the GOP party, not any elected "politician", but do carry on. I find it highly entertaining.

Among those who are judgmental about such things, there is a big difference between what they tolerate other people doing and what they themselves do in private.

Didn't know about that study, but I googled it up, and sure enough.

I have NEVER defined myself as a compassionate conservative - that was Bush's tag line. I find plain old conservatism to be compassionate enough without adjectives - although it's true that forcibly taking people's money and killing babies wouldn't be my first choices in examples of compassion. LOL

The only difference between the GOP and the donkeys is that the donkeys usually don't have to pretend to have morals. When Clinton was caught molesting the interns, the defense was that we all knew he was a sleaze bag so why the big fuss? Had Bush been caught doing the same, he'd have been gone in forty-eight hours.
