Roaches in my apartment.

I'm still seeing roaches all over, just walking around my apartment at night gives me shivers. Since I noticed them I'm always on edge while im in my apartment, never relaxed. I'm killing them as I see them, but I know there are alot more.

Going to buy some boric acid today before I get off work. Also going to call the leasing office again to let them know I still have roaches.

Maybe I shouldnt have posted this, all these replies suggesting that I need to move are really depressing. I hope they can somehow get rid of them or offer me a new apartment.

If you do move, note that roaches like warm places - they will be inside your television, computer case, etc. A friend of mine managed a rent-to-own place; said that any electronics they had to repossess were left out in the truck for a few days, then fumigated before being brought back into the store for that exact reason.

Can geckos climb walls? I might consider getting a few to get rid of the spiders. I wouldn't even mind if they crawl on the bed at night, as long as I know there's something else in the house killing spiders when I'm not.

If you do move fumigate all your belongs,especially Toasters and any other kitchen appliance or you will have problems with your new place.

Instead of corn oil, use light virgin oil to fry them. Very delicious snack, high in proteins low in carbs. Add salt and pepper if you like.

when i moved here to virginia a year ago... i got suckered into a good deal on an apt, found out it had roaches 2 months later...

when i complained over and over... all they offered was to spray... so they sprayed and sprayed but they roaches still kept showing up... i tried boric acid, raid, and roach bomb on my own...

finally i got fed up and broke my lease (which sucked, because they had a clause that i still had to pay rent until they could find someone else to lease my same apartment (crappy lease... didnt read the fine print))

So, the day I broke my lease... I offered a guy I know 2G (compared to paying 8G if no one signed) to sign a new lease for my apartment (he would still get my same good rate, but i explained my issue with the roaches and told him about them and he didnt care about the bugs he just wanted a cheep place)...

now i live in a nice apartment that is 98% bug free... occasionally see spiders aparment is behind a botanical perserve,

Buddy of mine lived in a roach-infested complex. Everyone complained, but the management did nothing. One day some nutjob decided to torch his apartment to get rid of the roaches. Two doors down from my bud's place.

Nutjob went to jail, but my buddy still lost most of his stuff. At least he had renter's insurance.

That's one big problem with living in an apartment complex. People who move in unknowingly bring the infestation in from whatever trash hole they were previously living in. I've noticed two in the hallway where I live this past week. Thankfully none in the apartment. If the apartment complex is good like you say then it would be a real concern for them. They should have pest control inspect the place. I'm glad that I don't have to put up with apartments much longer. I'm moving into my first house next month!

I ran into this same problem about a month ago. I was in this apartment for about 3 months and it never got any better. One night I cought a big roach in a bottle and by next morning it had like 30 baby roaches. I got some help and packed all my sh!t up one day after work and wrote the landlady a letter. Put the keys in the envelope and mailed it to the B.

Like I said, its been about a month since I moved out and haven't had any calls from her.

I know a great way to get rid of them! Surprised that I didn't think of this sooner.

Make a giant roach trap, baited with pizza or something, similar to the traps they use to catch minnows. You want to catch them alive!

Start a relocation program. Inform your landlord that your cost-free method of roach control is going to be the relocation program until your landlord irradicates them once and for all.

Oh, I forgot to mention: relocate them to your landlord's property.


I should get points for these brilliant ideas.

Just got back from Walmart with boric acid, Raid, 2 fly swatters and some bleach (heard this is good to put in the drains every so often).

They are going to re-spray the apartment this thursday, but I'll try to have fun with this stuff before then.

Update and question.

I've spread the Boric Acid all over the inside of the apartment around the baseboards, under sink, in the kitchen, etc. I've sprayed raid on the outside of the apartment around the windows and where the apartment walls meet the ground. The sprayers came thursday and sprayed inside while I was at work, even though I didnt smell it when I got home. So far I really havent seen many roaches since. I really started to notice less after using the Boric Acid. The apartment managers said to give it a week or two and if I am still noticing roaches to call them and they will take 'further action'.

One question though, does anyone know if cats kill/eat roaches? I was thinking about getting a cat for a pet, and got to thinking it would be great if it would have an impact on the roach problem, too.

I had a bad roach problem in my apartment until I moved out. In the process of moving, I found an old Hustler magazine on top of the kitchen cabinet that had been sheltering those b*stards! Plus, the custodian told me the people below me were total pigs.

I got roaches too... every month or so I see a big 2+ inch monster roach crawling around in my bathtub. Gives me the heebie-jeebies just thinking about it.
