Road Runner Question

I have had road runner for along time, and I think the original TOS said you could only have 1 machine on the service without paying extra. Is this still the case? I am just curious, my line has not been working correctly so I called them to come out to look at it. The are coming at 8:30 in the morning, and I just was curious if I should unhook all the machines on the LAN from the server until they are gone.

I am allowed only 3 IP addresses with RR. I put a fourth machine on the switch and it won't pick up an IP address. Dammit!!!!

I was worried about the same thing when I switched from aDSL to RR. the installation tech said he didn't have any problems with there being a LAN on RR. He even gave me an upgraded cable package without telling the office. Thanks RR installation tech!

BTW, I only switched to RR because SWBell couldn't get their heads out of their butts! I had DSL for over a year, and lost service one day. I called them every day for more than 2 weeks, and they never could figure out what was wrong. Finally I called RR, and had cable the next day. It has been much more reliable then the aDSL, also.

Yeah - I like NYC RR service, got it for a year and only been down twice (once was my linksys froze). Verzion is suck where I live - it went down every other day (and the fact that I don't get 1.5mb d/l with dsl like I do with RR).

I had xDSL and eventually switched to cable. I'm glad I did, because my download speed significantly increased...probably 2 or 3 times faster than what I was getting with DSL (although according to some posters on, ahh, you know, that site which allows you to test your connection speed, <cough>DSLReports<cough>, my speed is only middling compared to other broadband users.)

Anyway, I'm still happy I switched

I was one of the first to have cable in my area, and I must say I have noticed a decrease in the speed over the past 1.5 years, but nothing too drastic. I did try DSL for about 1.5 month, but I kept having dropped connections that would last up to 8 hours and that was not cutting it.

Don't pay for the extra IP address, just get a router. I use the Linksys 4 port with two 18 port switches.
It works fine. I am still getting actual download speeds of 200k per sec.

I'm not paying for extra IPs, I have a 2000 server box running RRAS and NAT actually hooked to the cable modem, and then 6 machines behind that. I just wanted to make sure they would come in and have a cow over me having so many machines hooked up.
