whether you like the styling or not, $23k for a sports coupe that goes 0-60 in 5.8s with a 5yr/60000 bumper to bumper warranty? pretty good if you ask me.
The current Camry is considerably heavier and more bloated than yours. It drives and feels like a leather couch on wheels.Originally posted by: mwmorph
I didnt say it was better, just lighter. 02 camry btw.(3164lbs). considering it is a 3.3L V6. tht is retty good. also, if you hadnt noticed, the V6 auto version only weighs in at 3450lbs.
why are so defensive about this car anyway. i mean relax. it's a car, it's not like someone is slamming your family.
FWD, not really sport but just "sporty" and overweight does not paint a pretty picture. RWD is preferred on sports cars for a reason. weight and balance gain.

How many Americans could fit their fat asses into an Elise, and how many Americans would sacrifice comfort to drive a stipped down car like the Elise?Originally posted by: mwmorph
i see the mid 90s stage fro mitsu all over again, where the so called "sports car" is bloated so much with luxuries, they must raise hp to compensate(remember supra,300zx). when will mitsu learn, less is more. look at the elsie. 1980lbs, a "measly" 1.8l 190hp/125tq engine will smoke almost any car out there in a real track. it is very fast accelerating(4.9 to 60) and it is much better handling.
wtf does that have to do ANYTHING with this car?And weighs on cars are increasing for a reason. First off, this is America, the land of Impalas, Crown Vics, and SUVs.
You mean the glorified Neon? It only has a warranty of 3yrs/36k miles, and I doubt that it's any near as luxurious or as reliable as the Eclipse.Originally posted by: Viper GTS

No kidding.
Cobalt SS would be a decent alternative as well.
SRT-4 is one wicked little car though.
Viper GTS
It has EVERYTHING to do with this car. This car has been made for AMERICAN demand. Which is why it's not present in any other markets. American like big cars.Originally posted by: nourdmrolNMT1

its an extra heavy FWD coupe, and its a mitsubishi at that.

Laugh all you want, but they're still more reliable than Fords and Chevys. And way better put together.Originally posted by: nourdmrolNMT1

The Cobalt SS is not only slower than the new Eclipse, but at the end of the day, it's still a renamed Cavalier.

I enjoy my evo8
not on the track says best motoring. plus the Evo8 starts at around $28k, standard with brembo's and advan's all around.
And its ungodly weight distribution. It's like 120% front/-20% rearI'm sure it will get stomped in the twisties due to its weight.
That's like comparing feces to scatI doubt that it's any near as luxurious or as reliable as the Eclipse.

Which is why when Mitsu introduced the V6 3rd gen, sales increased.
At the turboed peak, the 1st gen and 2nd gen Eclipses never sold a lot of GSTs or GSXs. I think that they only accounted for 15% of the sales. Most of the ones still on the road today the NON-turbo versions. The V6 accounted for a huge portion of the 3nd gen sales.

Very seriously doubt that. And it's a totally new vehicle, not a Cavalier.

Just like the Acura TLs - 3500lbs, 61/39. Yet I always hear people talking about how great it handles.Originally posted by: Skoorb

Let's compare that crappy SpecV to the Ralliart. =)Originally posted by: Skoorb

Oh come on, nobody buys those (ralliart). Actually now that I mention it very few people buy spec-vs. I'm not really sure why though.Let's compare that crappy SpecV to the Ralliart. =)
I'd have thought the TL is more like a family cruiser sports sedan but-not-really. The eclipse definitely tries to portray a sportier image.Just like the Acura TLs - 3500lbs, 61/39. Yet I always hear people talking about how great it handles.

uh.. if they are classifying this vehicle as a sports coupe, NO american wants a heavy sports coupe, thats a damn oxy-moron. G35 is NOT a sports coupe, thats a family sedan. The 350Z is their sports coupe. americans are beginning to want RWD vehicles. the impala is not a sports coupe, not anymore, notice the thing has 4 doors, and is MUCH smaller than that 94 Impala you are comparing it too? there is a 11 year difference dude, get your head straight, its a Mitsubishi, which already spells trouble, and it weighs so friggin much. and FWD, you are going to go beserk with that car, its just NOT going to sell.

G35 coupe is just that, a COUPE. what are you, a moron? The G35 sedan is... guess what, a SEDAN.
The 350Z doesn't even have rear seats!!!
Fine, you don't liek the Impala analogy? Let me list some other bloated "American" cars: the Monte Carlo, all the SUVs, the Crown Vic, the 500, the 300C, the Mustang, the LS, the Town Car, the Grand Marquis, the Sable, the Taurus, the Marauder, etc.
Face it, Americans like big, floaty cars.
