It's a darker movie & a little bit niche, but I enjoyed it, partly because Robin Williams was serious in it & partly because it presented some really really interesting concepts to think about. I won't say too much about the plot, but it parallels a lot of things that social media has brought into our lives, especially about having to be accountable in the face of things like the NSA tracking your every move, cameras everywhere, your life under critique by other people due to recorded images online (Facebook etc.), and so on. In a way, I'm sure it parallels William's own life - being under the scrutiny of the public, dealing with a history of drug addiction & depression, etc.

I like dark movies so I'll definitely give it a look. Thanks for the recommendation.

He named his daughter Zelda, off the video game. Hard to dislike a guy like that.

As many people say, all that money and fame is part of the problem. Some people say too much leisure, luxury and free time is a big factor as well

I think it's a huge, huge trap for human nature. Once you get zillions of bucks, what motivation do you have to get up to work in the morning? So then you need to find something to fill your free time with - endless parties filled with drugs & alcohol. Then you get depressed because you're staying up all night & coming off highs all the time. Re: Heath Ledger, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amy Winehouse, Marylin Monroe, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Jimi Hendrix, Elvis Presley, the list goes on & on. It's really unfortunate.

Loved his movies. Found him weird but great. RIP.

But I have to call him an idiot if suicide is true -- despite his mental issues. Great career and suicide will be his legacy. Too young at 63.

I usually don't care when celebrities die, but Robin Williams was a huge part of my childhood. RIP

He had bipolar depression. That is a very serious mental illness. He was type I. So even if he hadn't of had all that money and fame he was in a high risk category for something like this. On top of all that he was an alcoholic and drug addict for many years. He cleaned himself up however. Bipolar isn't something to take for granted though. Man, I am still just blown away by this. What an incredibly gifted, talented person, who gave so many people so much joy.

This.

RIP

Well this sucks.
Man you said it

easily one of the funniest and talented guys over the last 4 decades, I'm really bummed at this loss, there wasn't much of his stuff I didn't like and a lot of his stuff I can enjoy anytime, Aladdin, Dead poets, goodwill hunting, good morning Vietnam, his stand-ups, just to name a very few... heck his interviews alone were never dull

I think Bill Murray is the best role model for the very rich.

Sad times; Williams will be missed.

RIP Robin.

No it won't, many people have a high enough emotional intelligence to realize severe depression isn't just something you close the door on and get over.

He had a great career and many of us will always find his work funny and amazing, right now I'm sure Redbox and Amazon are filling a surge of orders as we speak for his material.

Very sad, RIP Mork

My Dad was bi-polar and left the world the same way.

Wow, that's a pretty happy post for a pretty depressing topic.

It stings a lot to hear of him passing. One of the brightest and wittiest comedians of our time. It's strange to comprehend a world knowing he's not there.

I think it would be a relatively small list of celebrities who are without drug and or alcohol problems. Sometimes you only hear it openly when something like this happens. I for one didn't know about Philip Seymour Hoffmann's heroin addiction
