I like "Hard N Heavy" and "Juggernaut of Justice." "This is Thirteen" is ok. I agree that the rest are fairly sucky...

The annoying thing about Anvil is that they blame everyone but themselves for not having a successful music career when the fact is that they were just not a very good band.

I listened to them way before the whole movie thing happened and I always thought they were just mediocre. They don't hold a candle to other thrash metal bands like "Testament" and "Exodus".

They had a sprinkle of songs that I still really dig like "Doctor Kevorkian", "Plenty of Power", "Speed of Sound", "Corporate Preacher" and "Straight Between the Eyes"

Anvil's only solid album was "Metal on Metal". The rest of their albums contain anywhere from 1-3 good songs with a bunch of duds. They had potential to be better but their lyrics are pretty childish and Lips is not a good vocalist.

Stone Temple Pilot's album "Core" still is one of my favorite albums of all time. The rest of their stuff kind of blows imo.

Other candidates

Faith No More - "The Real Thing"

Queensryche - "Operation Mindcrime"

Angel Dust was also very good, even if not as commercial as The Real Thing.

Operation Mindcrime is one of my all time favorite albums, however Empire was pretty good overall as well.

Heart? I wouldn't say that...Heart is a classic rock, but to me, after Magazine, I don't listen or try to get albums.
Little Queen, Magazine - prolly their best LPs

While listening to music over the years, taste does change....

What about Yngwie Malmsteen? - enough to have a couple LPs - rest are the same...

Who makes a lot of different albums? Prolly Glenn Hughes. I don't think, that someone else made so many different albums: soul, blues, funk, hard rock...etc...

Rick Wakeman has maybe 50 solo LPs, but some are different than others...

Marty Friedman - 2 GREAT albums - a must have for any HM fan - w/Cacophony
Some his solo pretty good, Megadeth? he played there for money only...
I really liked Heart.

Loads of great songs and I really like the 80's and the 80's sound.

like I said earlier, its just my opinion.

They were ok for a heavy metal band coming out of Canada. But yeah, Lips pretty much sucks...

I always thought Anvil was a parody band when I first saw a music video of them back in 1987.

Boy Hits Car - S/T
The Rebirth
Going to India

I saw these guys live around the time this album was released. Fucking awesome live band. Very Daryl Palumbo-esque vocals. Singer is a weird hippie-lookin' dude, but he's a damn badass. Halfway through the last song, he starts clambering up equipment, spider-monkeys out onto the ceiling rafters over the audience, does the last verse hanging upside down, then drops and finishes the song while crowd surfing.

thats a lie.. all their albums are great... The Passage, Stealing Fire, My Animal and s/t. CRegg is a monster on stage.. youtube his 68' stagedive... they're working on a new album now and doing a tour later this year.. i've seen them about 6 times and gotten to become good friends with them all...

Heh...of all the bands to debate. Surprised someone else actually knows them.

My Animal was okay but not that great, IMO, and I think it was out of print by the time I had even heard of them (around the S/T release). So I kind of think of that (S/T) as their first 'major' album. I couldn't get into The Passage...it just seemed so watered down. I will check out Stealing Fire; didn't even know about that one. Quite the gap there, I was thinking they quit making music after TP.

Some of this shit you other guys are coming up with, though...Jesus. As if Dream Theater wasn't a pretty absurd suggestion...like them or not, they have had a huge loyal fanbase over 20+ years and put out oodles of music. That's not the gist of the thread.

But someone posted Faith No More, too? Come the shit on, some of you guys are sounding like pop listeners. Just because Epic was the only FNM that ever really made it big on the radio doesn't make them some obscure one-hit-wonder band. Ditto with DT and Pull Me Under.

I like discussing music, either way, but the goal wasn't to debate who you think sucks, who 'sold out,' ect. It's to say 'hey, you know what's a really great CD that no one's ever heard of/everyone's forgotten about?'

Empire was fantastic... not only good music but very well produced. I just have not been able to get into any of their other stuff, including Operation Mindcrime...

Boyhitscar is one of my favorite bands. Along with 36 Crazyfists. I've been lucky to become friends with both of the bands.

Damageplan

This thread is for bands that hada good album and then sucked. Damage plan just sucked.

Okay, I was joking, because they only put out one album (RIP Dime), but I honestly don't think the album sucks by any means for me.

But to go with thread, I'd say Dream Theater as most have. Awake was their last good studio album as everything afterwards is just isn't on par. Not talking about their talent, just the quality of songs.
