I've ridden in a 62 (I work for Mercedes corp) and had to help my coworker drive it out of the parking space. Friggin thing is HUGE, the 57 is pretty friggin big compared to an Sclass but the 62 with its added length is a friggin boat. I think it took us about 15 minutes to figure out how to work the curtains so we could see out the back... so many friggin buttons. And the car has curtains... CURTAINS!! It really is that big though... it came pretty close to the sides of our garage doors... much more so than an S class.

The one we were testing didn't have the keyboard, but the rear cabin is HUGE. The recliners in the back were insanely big. It was more of a case where my 5'10" frame had too much leg room. Nicest luxury automobile I've ever rode in ... it's like a private jet for the roads.

I'm obviously biased though...

The retail starting price was $315,500 and with options and other things, it came out to $326,300 + license + tax

I'm surprised no one has mentioned it, but it's probably a lease. Still expensive, say 2K a month, but nothing unaffordable to someone well off.
Umm, I don't think your standard 'leasing' is even possible on that car, considering they are all 100% custom build-to-order (he didn't pick it out on the lot). Financing yes, leasing NO!

your "source" contradicts your numbers by about 2x as much.

Maybachs are not very good looking at all, IMHO (something like a Hyundai Sonata from the front and a Hyundai XG300 from the rear). These make the latest BMW 7ers look like timeless beauties by comparison... for the cash, I'd take a RR Silver Phantom anyday of the week. Again, that's just my $0.02.

Of course, if it's supposed to be "exclusive" then there will always be an artificial desire for them among the rich (and especially among the admirers of the rich). Gotta love America's mob mentality tendencies.

Thx for the pix tho, few mags gave so many up-close shots.

I rode in one during a job interview.

While the car has head turning appeal, the interior of it completely sucked. The gauges and knobs and their placement must have been designed by a GM engineer.

THESE PEOPLE ARE INDIANS!!

NOW tell me that Indians are cheap!

that's why they never tip.

When I go to an expensive restraunt, I probably tip more than your entire meal is.. sooooooooooo that throws your theory for a loop.

funny my theory is validated 6-10 times a night

and for 300k, i'd rather have an S55 and a 911turbo
