Geez, all I wanted to do was supply pics of a beautiful car to ATOT, not make a debate on whether or not the guy should have bought it.
Jealous people
Now if Jay Leno was your neighbor I bet nobody here would be posting anything negative.
What does Jay Leno have to do with it?
In any case - at the very least, it seems a tremendous lack of imagination. I can think of alot better ways to blow $300K then on a car
Jay Leno is a car nut.... With dozens of ridiculous vehicles in his collection.

The Car for indians is the cheapest way to proclaim their $$$worthiness and $$$visibility.
and trust me - that sticker is going to stay on that car for as long as it can stay (read till all neighbors / relatives can see it) ...
this is just an observation.

to me its a car you'd rent for a wedding. otherwise its sorta disgusting if you know what i mean.
From the article
But, he says, in some developed economies such as Germany the cars are politically incorrect.
what is that supposed to mean?
It means that it's a symbol of excess and that such things are frowned upon everywhere that isn't populated by
A) Americans
or
B) Oil Sheiks

Tell me whether the Bentley, or the RR (any of the models that they offer) have:
Reclining back seats
two disc brakes on each whel
900 Nm @ 2300 rpm
550 hp @ 5250 rpm
electrochromatic sunroof
a 600 watt 21 speaker entertainment system
and please don't tell me that any of the items can be installed on any other car (except the sunroof).
On another note: the 57 is meant to be owner driver, and the 62 is meant to be chaffeur driven. You may think that you would let any one else drive the 57, or drive the 62 yourself, but it's a bit like saying that the Bentley is meant to be driven by the chaffeur, and the RR is to be driven by yourself. That is the complete opposite principle to the cars (the RR and the Bentley).
And if I had the money, I would spend the money on that, and wouldn't care what any body says, because that is the epitome of richness.

And a Maybach doesn't have umbrellas installed in the rear doorsills (a la R-R Phantom) . . .
I guess I just find the Maybach vulgar and lacking in character. I don't seriously question that they are great cars, or that they are equipped with nearly every conceivable luxury feature - I just don't care for them. I think the CLS 55 is a prettier and more desirable car in nearly every way, for a small fraction of the price.

No way i'd spend $300,000 on that, no matter how rich i was.

That is just a prototype to test out these new extra wide tyres. It is not intended to go into production
edit: my bad: check out this article.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned it, but it's probably a lease. Still expensive, say 2K a month, but nothing unaffordable to someone well off.
