take a look at this and that wasn't even lifted. yes I know it was a early '90s civic but still a lifted suv would have been worse.

I don't think M cars piss people off, but lets run with it anyway:

If I hit someone my car will deform and crash as designed. I'm not going to ram exposed suspension components into someones face.

I completely understand your point, but I don't really think it compares.
