Let's not forget for a moment that McConnell's fucking around with the process of selecting SCOTUS justices turned that court into another thoroughly corrupted branch of gov't beholden to megacorporate interests that entices their conservative working class voters into being their self-sacrificing agents for dividing and subjugating the middle class and the poor of the nation so as to remove them as a threat to the overwhelming influence these big business folks have over our politicians.

This is already turning into a horror show. Never mind the inability of our Administration to do anything, but I don’t understand why the AMA, all the boards certifying OG-GYNs, hospital boards and administrators, or anyone else with authority isn’t ready with new guidelines yet.

Bleeding for 10 days because your doc refuses to remove dead fetal tissue for fear of losing their license??? WTF??? I guess Republicans just chuckle and call that a heavy period.

Dude you are a liberal…
I dont know about him but I am liberal on 90 percent of the hot issues today. That doesnt mean I can blindly support a party that routinely fails to get anything done.
I voted for Biden because Trump is a horrible monster. Not because Joe is our salvation. We need a better person. And I liked a lot of people in the primary who just didnt have the backing of the DNC.

I hate to break it to you, but our system of government has been min-maxed by a few people into the current state. It's impossible for anyone to get anything done at all. The govt moves slow by design but it is supposed to move.

Adolescence is while you are going through puberty, as this girl is. She would've started puberty at least a year ago to have become pregnant (on average), which is early but not crazy early.

And from left field..........

WEST VIRGINIA!!!

From that article:

Morrisey (WV AG) in a statement said he would appeal the preliminary injunction to the state's highest court, saying "current law on the books calls for the protection of life."

Except the mother's really.....

As always, they don't care until it happens to them, and then it's different, but only for them.

I don’t think it’s any more complicated than the fact that with about 30% of the population you can block almost anything from happening.

Back when there was a lot of overlap between the parties this wasn’t a huge problem but now that there’s nearly no overlap it is. McConnell didn’t find out some genius legislative strategy, he just knows he doesn’t need to appeal to anywhere near a majority of voters to get his way. Needless to say that’s a problem for a democracy.

Supposedly the doctor who performed that 10 year olds abortion has received 180 grand for legal fees, and a security team.

Has he not learned anything regarding Mitch McTurtle's behavior over the last 3 decades? Why should anyone give Mitch what the wants when what you get in return is a "promise" to do or not do something in the future? When, not if, Mitch refuses to play ball down the road, there's no leverage anymore to get him to cooperate; you've already given him what he wanted in the first place.

Why anyone believes anything coming out of a Republican politician or nominee's mouth is utterly stupefying to me. They always argue in bad faith.
Pathetic. The nomination was dropped ONLY because Rand Paul will not give it a blue letter, not because of anything else.

So Joe you're supposed to know how the Senate works huh.

Biden backs anti-abortion Republican for Kentucky judgeship in apparent McConnell deal

President Biden is poised to nominate a conservative Republican anti-abortion lawyer for a lifetime appointment as a federal judge in Kentucky, a nomination strongly opposed by fellow Democrat and U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth, D-Louisville.
The nomination of Chad Meredith appears to be the result of a deal with U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell, ostensibly in exchange for the Senate Minority Leader agreeing not to hold up future federal nominations by the Biden White House, according to Yarmuth and other officials who confirmed the pending nomination to The Courier Journal.

Robert Steurer, a spokesman for McConnell, said he would have no comment until Biden makes his nomination.
Meredith also declined to respond to a request for comment, as did a spokeswoman for Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, a Democrat.
The White House also declined to comment, saying "we do not comment on vacancies."

feels a bit naive to me

Dems planning on 2 bills. One to protect same sex marriage, the second to guarantee access to birth control.

I suggested the second to my Congresswoman. There will be an equal amount of outraged people when Republicans vote down each of these.

Imagine the commercial, "Conservatives are coming after your birth control"

House Democrats prepare for votes on same-sex marriage, contraception (msn.com)

About fucking time.

They better do an actual roll call in the Senate.

why not pass a bill codifying Roe while they're at it? seems like a pretty easy thing to do...

The house has already passed two bills. One would codify protections for abortion access into Federal Law. The other one would protect out of state travel for abortion services. Both of them passed on mostly party lines and there isn't 60 votes in the Senate to pass either bill.

My guess they will do that before midterms. The others will be harder for Republicans to vote no but they will anyway. That way Dems have a legitimate talking point t GOP is against marriage unless you are white and heterosexual and they want to control your birth control.

At least that is legitimate considering Thomas’s big mouth. Not like the made up CRT

We'll see, but I'm guessing they will codify interracial marriage. I just don't see all >80% voting against that.
