I agree but I was speculating about what kind of laws red states might enact in an attempt to limit/prevent women crossing state lines to get an abortion.

It doesn't take much imagination at all.
This sounds like it would violate the Privileges or Immunity Clause.

Yes it does at least in spirit .... I just don't think that kind of thing matters much anymore with this court.

I am however confident they'll uphold the recent precedent they set approving the legality of the Texas "abortion-lawsuit" law if a variant that applies to crossing state-lines for an abortion ends up in front of them.

Quite frankly, Dems deserve to get wiped out and they need to rebuild or a new party needs to emerge. Maybe a few decades of GOP rule will allow a new party to rise.

The Democratic party as we know it will cease to exist after 2024 anyway. At least as a national party.
When are you going to get one of the funny hats like Nostradamus wore?

the reality is that making abortion illegal will only increase the number of deaths and outright murders in this country. Because abortion itself can't ever possibly be considered a murder (it would be insanely stupid to try and argue from a medical or biological perspective that abortion is murder), then only with illegal abortion are more and more women going to be murdered by pregnancies that will kill them, which the fascist state where they live will force them to die, or will die from doing what humans have always done, and long before they invented a Christian god, or any fucking god that humans have ever created--they will attempt to end their pregnancies, and it will be ever more dangerous to do so.

This country will never be great as long as a single evangelical Christian lives here and has any kind of public voice, about anything. They are the cancer that we must eradicate.

I was with you until the last sentence. They must be shown their shame. Like Germans were, hopefully they realize it before it gets that bad.

Shown their shame? How do you show shame to something that either ignores or is outright incapable of feeling that?

If they haven't been ashamed to this point, they never will be.

All sorts of bad things should be expected now that a fascist theocracy has gained control of an unelected, lifetime appointed chamber. I think your country is going to be fucked for the forseeable future, and not in a loving way - more of a Deliverance "squeal like a piggy" way, and there won't be a quick end to it, unlike in the movie.

Corporations who have already announced they will reimburse employees for having to travel out of state to get medical care such as an abortion. These corporations need to start rethinking where they start business up going forward. Some talent and a lot of younger talent are not going to want to work in states that are so backwards. Google is offering also to relocate employees who want to move out of regressive states into same states.

But then again...... AOC says no tax cuts for large corps in NYS. Looks like NYS won't get any benefits from an exodus from those states.

Well to make money you need talent. And the majority of people that go to college and better universities and are the emerging young talent in many industries, either are or emerge as progressives.

At some point companies are going to have to value making a better product with better talent, then just pure profits

One of the main reasons the far-right has been able to get away with this crap is that so many of the actual majority in this country are completely out to lunch.

The modern Republican party is all about stripping Americans of their rights and ensuring permanent male-dominated white-minority rule. Period.

If you're naive enough to think the GOP/Christian's actually care about "constitutional rights" or "playing fair" at this point then all I can say is want to buy a bridge?
Fixed it, before 1960 saying it was the other way around was somewhat a true statement. Go before the Great Depression, and the reverse of your statement would have actually also been a fact.

I am going to be honest here, @imported_tajmahal is not that dispicable. From the crowd of conservatism in this forum community, Taj is the most left leaning conservative here if you do not consider any of the moderates here. Taj seems to only take in the stuff that is being told by conservatives, but believes in them mildly. You look at Falwez and others, it is whole different story. The others seem to promote the idea via propaganda, while Taj only brings up the points when they are only asked about it.

So advocating for shooting illegal immigrants climbing up walls, and throwing grenades into tunnels where there are illegal immigrants is moderate conservatism?

I reconnected with someone I knew 20 years ago, never a close friend but we partied together.

Was actually somewhat leaning conservative in our early conversations. But he also admitted the cops were racist as hell, there was so much racism, he worked at a public utility and he said those guys were animals, racist homophobes just terrible people.

But then we got to talking once about the border and he said, they should just shoot them as they cross and I was like holy shit dude that's nuts and he was pretty standing his ground there.

Anytime you're advocating for the extra-judicial murder of "others" I'd argue that makes you an extremist, even if most of your other political views aren't necessarily extreme.

Agreed. I was just saying how the conversation started out. Anyway I don't have too much in common with him and after that I just kept blowing him off I think he got the hint. I mean I told him what he was saying was crazy and explained why but. I just can't with some people
