I am required to award stars to movies I review. This time, I refuse to do it. The star rating system is unsuited to this film. Is the movie good? Is it bad? Does it matter? It is what it is and occupies a world where the stars don't shine.
I really don't get all this adoration. The guy was a dick. He was a bully. If you ever watched his show with Gene Siskel you'd have known it back then. He treated Siskel like a red headed step-child. His asshole persona reared its ugly head long before his illness.

I remember the huge deal made by the gaming media about him saying video games can never be art.
I just found he also made an apology of sorts.
Both very thoughtful and well worth reading.
RIP.
That coward just tried to make up for the backlash from his tirade about video games. He still admits he never bothered to try one, and in the end all he says is "I was a fool for mentioning video games in the first place."
And that's how I'll always remember him, a fool. I have no respect for a critic who forms opinions on a purely theoretical basis without any knowledge of the subject. If I can't respect his opinion, then his entire line of work in my eye is worthless because all he does is express his opinion... which I no longer trust.
The Ebert that I found fair and intelligent has been dead for a long time.
