OK, at 12:17 I finally got thru.

And when I did, ALL the center line seats had been bought out. Can only assume some asshole used a script to occupy the website then swallowed the prime tickets. Fucker.

My nephew was actually able to buy 25 tickets at $1 a piece. So we'll have entire rows to ourselves

Got my tickets last night -- UltraScreen VIP seats 10:15 showing. Sadly the 7pm (first showing) was 3D and screw that -- they REALLY need to give up on pushing 3D on people.
My family also rented out the "bistro" theater (where you can order food and sit at tables) for the 17th like we did for TFA. It's going to be good!

The one theater I checked when looking at this unlimited tickets had about 7 3d times for opening day and only 3 2d. odd.

Re-shoots happen ALL THE TIME. These were even scheduled to happen as part of the entire production cycle. The tone of the trailers might have more to do with what they want you to see and what was completed (effects wise) at the time of release.

But, you're right. It'll be a disaster.

Among a report about Tony Gilroy’s hefty wages after being brought on to improve the film during re-shoots, THR says that one of the biggest changes added to the film at the time was the process of fixing the film’s ending, among other issues. Sadly no details about what required fixing have yet to be revealed.

Like I said, reshoots were because the movie didn't look good from the first trailer, that's why they went back. If they made it better that's going to be good for all of us but it just did not look good in the very first trailer at all.

Did the first trailer even give us enough to let us know whether the movie would be good or not? We got to learn who characters are and see some interesting scenes, but that's about it....

Although, speaking of changing the ending, Film Theory (a channel on YouTube) put up a video recently about their theory on the end of Rogue One based upon the fact that it isn't a sequel, which means it has to adhere to existing lore, and using some of that lore to determine what will happen. I won't talk about much, because while it's just a theory, a film theory, it could end up being right. ...or perhaps, and the reason why I bring it up, it could end up being outdated. I will say that the theory does not suggest a stereotypical happy, Hollywood ending, and perhaps, that's why they ended up doing reshoots?

I hope they didn't change it from a depressing "They succeeded in their mission but all died in the process" ala "final flight of the osiris" style into a more happy "They succeeded and lived but have to lay low for a while is all!" or something.

In any event a year from now when we're looking at a bluray collector's edition I hope they include the alternate ending for fan examination.

I'm just not feeling hyped for this movie at all. The first trailer sucked, they had reshoots which is never a good sign, that with the fact that we are getting a new Star Wars movie every year now, it just makes Star Wars feel less special. Force Awakens was special because it was the first new Star Wars movie in a long time. If they had just released a new trilogy I would be all for it, but to have prequels, side stories, character origin stories, etc, it's just too much Star Wars. It dilutes the product.

I 1000% disagree. The new trilogy is boring and rehashed. Much better to focus on the original trilogy and flesh out side stories. Plus both of the trailers were excellent.

Official reviews are under embargo until Tuesday morning in advance of the Dec. 16 release, but the crowd at the Pantages Theatre went wild with applause as the credits rolled and took to social media to express their delight in the Star Wars spinoff film about the rebels who steal the plans for the Death Star.

It's set right before the events of the original 1977 Star Wars.

Comedian Dane Cook suggested that it might be "the best" Star Wars movie, while Rainn Wilson called it "amazing."

Actor Wil Wheaton said he hadn't loved a Star Wars movie as much since the original. Chris Taylor, author of the book How Star Wars Conquered the Universe, wrote that the film was "heart-stopping and dark. Like darker than Empire Strikes Back dark."

There had been some hand-wringing from fans about the spinoff film when the public learned that the production was undergoing expensive re-shoots and bringing in veteran scribe Tony Gilroy to help out which the script.

I'm hoping they show the Empire actually be oppressive. We all know they are they bad guys, and have since ANH, but WHAT exactly are they doing in the galaxy that is so evil and deserves a bloody coup? I never really understood this in the Star Wars universe/lore -- The Empire is "bad" but WTF are they doing that everyone hates? Why did they need to build a Death Star in the first place if their greatest enemies were just a rag-tag group of rebels? Purely intimidation?

I'm looking forward to this (even though I managed to avoid watching a single trailer). We will likely go on Saturday or Sunday matinee.

To be honest I assume the Star Wars brand is going to become over saturated and annoying eventually but we're not there yet so might as well have fun with it while we still can.

Disbanding the Senate gave the Emperor more political power but increased the odds of the system's revolting. Fear would keep the local systems in line. Fear of this battle station.

I think you're missing the point (or I'm misunderstanding your answer). They are trying to go deeper. You went straight to the end if you're talking about the death star. They are trying to understand 'why is there a death star?' 'why are there rebels?' 'what are they rebelling against?' Etc.

It sounds like hes just referring to a lack of evil being seen in the movies - not all the things that lead up to people rebelling against it. If we are talking about things leading up to the rebellion in the movies they murdered a bunch of kids and, really, anyone who tried to get in their way
