You can easily tell whats the differences, the real one...the SECOND hand moves continuously while the fake one stops and goes.
Not true. Rolex watches also tick off the seconds in a stop and go manner.

I purchased a pearl necklace from Overstock and then took it to a jeweler for an appraisal. His estimate was 3-4X what I paid.
Any piece of jewelery you take to an appraiser will appraise for a ton more than you paid. It's like MSRP on a car, it's a made up amount of money that nobody really pays that much for it.
Then they would be lying now would they. It bad when it gets to your death. Obviously they people aren't stupid to make up a figure. Especially if the decease it bordering whether or not they have to pay any estate taxes. Or even if they do how much.
you think the IRS would be happy if the appraiser appraised jewelry or anything for less than its value. They(IRS) could be losing lots of money. Making up a figure isn't a smart thing to do for the appraiser.
jewelry, collectables and a few other items that can't get a fair market value(home, car, land) have to be appraised. Although most people don't even come close to having to worry about value of their estate.
Exactly. It's ticks very fast so it looks like the second hand just sweeps.Originally posted by: emjem

Since when does everyone that wears a Rolex have money? I wear one (2 tone Datejust w/diamond dial) and I don't have money. It was a gift from my Uncle and ya he does have money. Although he prefers Cartier to Rolex. But if you want to tell people you have money by wearing a rolex, isn't it just cheaper to say "I have money."?

Why do some people think nothing of spending $100 on a tie or $200 on a pair of shoes? Or why do some people spend $1500 on a computer that will be outdated in a couple of years? To them it may not be frivolous.
I hear ya. I was afraid to wear it at first but realized how many other companies have copied this watch. The average person would think it's some cheap no name or Seiko at best. I've only had 1 person even notice it was a Rolex. And frankly, I'd be scared to even wear the damn thing. People have been killed on the street for a pair of shoes; an expensive watch screams "Rob me!"

my timex ironman sleek just fell apart after a few months.
What a piece of garbage. First the plastic band fell off piece by piece then the 100m water resitant case leeked in the bathtub shorting out the insides.
Now if I had only paid a few more dollars and purchased a quality watch like one of these.

In my opinion, the only reason Rolex's or Cartier's exist if for rich people (mostly rich people) to show everyone else how rich they are. How would you know if the guy standing next to you was a CEO or something unless he had the bling to show off? And frankly, I'd be scared to even wear the damn thing.
