It's also lightweight and with the plastic band I cannot even feel it. Just bought another one for $9 at big 5 sporting goods. That's a hot deal ....they sell for $69. No one is gonna rip it off my wrist.
Rolex? I just don't get it
Dan
I like the cut of your jib Dan.
You propose an alternative instead of just whining.
Myself I used to wear a Timex "iroman" which was OK, but I got a Nike Triax 300 as a gift, loved it, and beat the hell out of that for 2 years.
For a watch to survive 2 years on my wrist is quiet an accomplishement.
I got swayed back to the "T" side by the new Timex Ironman "sleek" series. If you you have not checked these out the eletronics are great. Things like 10 alarms, 200 run memory, notes, 10 intervals with syncro timer (for total time in intervals without setting a separate timer), a knob to quickly adjust the settings and so on.
HOWEVER
The "high end" (the one with the most memory/alarms etc) sleek has real quality issues. The band is two different types of plastic which fell apart within 3 months. Unfortunately the band falling apart uncovered a hole in the case, it leaked and died in the bathtub.
Also the interval timer on the ironman sleek series BEEPS for 10 gosh darn seconds. VERY annoying if you are at the gym and slightly annoying when running outside.
Replaced it with a Nike Triax S 27 which my wife picked up for me. At first I was like why did you get me this POS it only has two alarms but then I tried it on and decided I liked it (plus returning gifts from you spouse is bad juju), If I returned it I would probably have gone back to the Triax 300 or one of the newer Triax's BUT the 27 is a good size for me, and I realized I was not using 1/2 the features of the Triax 300 or Ironman sleek. Also the bezel is recessed on the 27 while it is convex on the 300, just a magnet for scratches.
Also tempted by the ironman datalink USB. But, the old datalink software sucked, and the new datalink USB is but ugly and does not function as a USB hard drive.
For a while I was tempted to get one of the nicer looking polar/sunto or Nike HRMs and use that for a watch. However now that I am doing intervals I pay less attention to my heart rate and quite honestly I feel much fitter than whan I would use a HRM to exercise "in the zone".
So what do you wear instead of a Rolex?
