Rollo's 512MB 7800GTX Benchmarks

I've been having fun playing UT2004 and Quake4 with the new 512 GTX, but it's time to see what it can do. Here's some preliminary numbers, I was pretty impressed.

Doom 3 16X12 4X8X.......... 73fps

Painkiller 16X12 4X16X........67fps
Painkiller 19X14 4X16X........67fps

(looks like I'm cpu limited in Painkiller)

FEAR
16X12 0X8X.............29/93fps/248 (min/ave/max)

16X12 2X8X.............30/47fps/87 (min/ave/max)

16X12 4X8X.............19/33fps/65 (min/ave/max)

16X12 2X8X seems to be the sweet spot, 0% <25fps, 38% 25-40fps, 62% >40fps

FAR CRY

Regulator............62fps
Training..............73fps
Research.............99fps
Volcano...............90fps

16X12 HDR 16X
Regulator............47fps
Training..............53fps
Research.............63fps

Not too shabby! HDR definitely becoming a usable feature, albeit without AA.

Nice work Great to see some Farcry benchies too there (have you installed the 64-bit extended content upgrade pack yet (my thread on it has instructions)? Looks mindblowingly good (massive draw distance, offset bump mapping, more vegitation, more insects/birds are the main changes) with a minimal FPS hit...

You call that cpu limited? My 2.1GHz tbred-b/Asus A7V8X/1Gb Ram just doesn't cut it around here anymore i guess

I still like my 7800Gt's (they were cheaper than a 512GTX too).
I've found that my 7800Gt's in SLI are faster than 1 512GTX, and the SLI setup really boosts my minimum framerates which make the "experience" better.

Edit: Although I'm curious to see how the X1900 will hold up against the 7900's. I know thats totally unrelated, but I just had to say it.

The beauty of standardized benchmarks is they're replicable. You can recreate my results yourself, or see similar on the web.

agreed :beer: SLi is no joke,.. it shows when you can look at stats like that and realize,..yeahaah ,.. for the past 6-7 months ive been playing those games much faster than that at those settings,lol i usually play games with 2x supersampling/gamma AA at 1600x1200 anymore...,slightly less demanding than 4x,..but makes for just a really nice gaming image at that resolution :thumbsup: kudos for the benches rollo

Rollo how about doing temperature test, sound test and some more other games at different settings. TR SSAA? 20x15? Some benchs with HQ on. That would be great if you did.

On a side note, is AA really needed at 20x15?

Looking good there Rollo, just mind the morons in the thread as they're not worth the time. I think i'd se better results than what I get now if I upgraded to a Dual Core CPU but SLI was well worth the money spent on that instead.

How does it perform in COD2 (if you have it)?
